Ardith “Shelly” Schooley

Shelly Schooley passed away on July 19, 2021 at the Grey Nuns Hospital, with family at her side, at the age of 67 years old.

Shelly was born September 20, 1953 in Edmonton, Alberta, as the oldest of six children of John and Helen Chretien. Shelly was survived by her four brothers – Graydon, Mark, Kenneth, Barry – and one sister – Kim. She also leaves behind her three children – David (Carmella), Dan (Nadine), and Jill (John). Shelly enjoyed her eight grandchildren – Sydney, Taylor, Reid, Jordan, Lewis, Kensington, Aubrey and Evelyn. Shelly was predeceased by her son, Douglas, in 1993 and by her parents, John and Helen Chretien (2014 and 2004, respectively).

The family would like to thank the staff at the ICU at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Shelly, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the Alberta Diabetes Foundation, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

  1. I was so very sorry to learn of Shelly’s passing. She cared for my mom Grace with compassion and dedication, and became a friend to our family. Shelly often spoke of her grandchildren, always with such joy and love- she cherished the time she spent with them. My sincere condolences.
