Robert Tascu Veronovici was born to his parents George and Maria Veronovici in Edmonton, Alberta on March 31, 1979. Rob died far too soon when he passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2023. Rob is survived by his two sons that he loved dearly, Nathan (10) and Aiden (2), his spouse of 18 years, Nicole, and his mother, Maria. Rob was preceded by his dad, George in October 2022.
Rob sailed through grade school and graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce and later obtained his professional accounting designation. Rob had a long career with Alberta Health Services where he worked as a trusted and well-respected Business Advisory Services Director leading accounting teams and working closely with the Operations teams. His dedication and hard work were evident to all who worked with him.
Rob joined the GO Community Centre Board of Directors in 2013 and served as the Treasurer for the board and represented the Edmonton Grads Basketball Center as the Board President. He has been involved with the Edmonton Grads Basketball Centre since 2002 to help to increase the availability of basketball to adults and youth in the community.
Rob was an avid sports enthusiast, and his love for sports was infectious; he shared this love with his sons. Most notably Rob and Nathan were avid skiers and they never missed an opportunity to get to the mountains to find the most challenging black and double black runs to complete together. Rob also spent countless hours biking with Aiden in the bike trailer.
He was a passionate fan of the Edmonton Oilers and would rarely miss a game. Rob shared his love of the Oilers with his sons and close friends. Rob was an Oilers season ticket holder with his close friend for 18 years.
Rob’s kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered for his infectious smile and his willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
A private service was held May 3, 2023 to honor Robert’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robert’s memory to Jump Start (jumpstart.canadiantire.ca) or to site that was thoughtfully set up by his work colleagues in support of Rob’s sons’ future education ( https://gofund.me/4a950c6b )
