It is with heavy hearts that the family of Waltraud (Wally) Marquardt announce her passing on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 83, with family by her side. She was a loving Wife, Oma, Meme, Aunty and friend to so many. She was our angel on earth and will be missed so much.
She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. No one left the house empty handed, ever.
She loved to bake, collect teddy bears and her coffee pot was always on and everyone was welcome.
She leaves behind her loving husband Erwin of almost 63 years, son Randall (Jennifer), daughter Monica (Gerhard) and her precious grandchildren Ryan (Madison), Dustin, Kadyn and Leighton.
Thank you to all our friends and family who walked this journey with us – it helped us through all the tough days. Just shows the impact mom made to everyone.
Thank you to all of the doctors and nurses that helped mom especially her team at the Edmonton General Hospital hospice who took the best care of her over the past few weeks. Mom fought her cancer so hard and with a positive strong attitude – she helped us cope because that’s who she was.
As per her wish there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
We’re so sorry to hear about Wally. She was always so nice – a true ray of sunshine in everyone’s life.
May you find Peace and the Strength through this time of sorrow. She will be missed by so many that were blessed to have know her. She was one of a million.

Wally was a kind,generous,neighbor and friend to my husband & I,our children and grandchildren for 30 years. As a young mom she always cheered me up when I felt lonely and shared my passion for play and devotion to my little ones and later on to my grandchildren. Always sharing toys,clothes and every Christmas,Easter & Halloween there would be treats for the kids on the doorstep. Who does that. Wally! Her hugs and smiles could make your day! Thank you! She understood family and faith.

I am so sorry for your loss. Wally was such a special lady. I met her at the Misericordia Hospital where she volunteered on the same shift as my mom, Vickie. She was a great friend to my mom, and I loved spending time with her when I was able to help out too. My condolences to her family.
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Wally. We bonded while volunteering at the Misericordia hospital and I really enjoyed our time spent together. My teenage daughters would often come visit us there after our shifts so they could have coffee with Wally (and I) in the basement cafeteria, as I told them all about cool she was. She made a huge impression on us all and will be deeply missed. Our condolences go out to everyone who knew and loved Wally. She was one of the good ones.

I always loved to see them at our family gatherings whether it was in Edmonton or in Biggar. I’m so glad we had a chance and a beautiful visit with Erwin yesterday at the long term care facility. Aunty Wally is an absolute great memory in my life. She always treated me great as a kid and for that I am truly sorry for her sudden demise to cancer.
