It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Corinne Denise Johnston, who went to
be with Jesus on November 18th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She passed after a
month-long admission at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 52.
Corinne is survived by her son Victor; her mother Lynda (nee Norstrom) and her stepdad Ken
Dyck; her brother Garry (Cyndi) Johnston, and children Eliana and Cameron; her three half
brothers Luke, Adam and Dan Jacobson and their families; several aunts and uncles including
Orville Norstrom, Joanne (Peter) Zupan, and Dave (Brenda) Jacobson, and many others; cousins
including Carin Norstrom and Darla Norstrom and many other friends and loved ones.
Corinne lived a life rich with the love of her family and many accomplishments. She earned
degrees in both social work and education and built meaningful careers in these fields. A gifted
pianist, Corinne’s talent brought joy to many, especially when she volunteered at hymn sings for
seniors. Corinne was serious and thoughtful, kind and compassionate and had a fierce love for
her family and friends. She was always ready to fight for the underdog (in her social work
career) and had a brilliant intellect and desire to learn. Corinne was also strong-minded and
independent. She noticed the “little things” about people and would give the most unique and
thoughtful gifts. Her generous and loving nature touched everyone she met. Corinne valued
relationships deeply and loved for a lifetime, not just a season. Though she faced challenges
with mental health in her later years, this did not diminish the beauty and kindness that defined
her. Often, she was more concerned with how she may be a burden to others, than about
herself. Corinne’s love for Jesus shone through her words and actions, and it brings us peace
knowing that her spirit is now dwelling with Him.
We love you and miss you Corinne, until we meet again in the presence of our Heavenly Father
in heaven.
A special thank you to all the extended family and friends who reached out to support Corinne
through phone calls, texts, emails and visits during the last several years of her life.
A Memorial Service will take place in Spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:
