Jay-Jay Allyn Myshak

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jay-Jay Allyn Myshak on March 4th 2025 at the age of 44. Jay-Jay was the first son born to his loving mother, Sharon McKilligan; and excitedly welcomed by his older sister, Stacey Nyong, on March 19th 1980.

Jay-Jay spent his younger years surrounded by family, including many aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and friends. Everyone that knew Jay-Jay loved him and loved to be around him. He was loved by those who have passed before him and will be missed dearly by those who are left behind, including his father, Steve Toker, and his brother, Derrick Toker.

Jay-Jay loved family, had an infectious laugh, and was a talented writer. He was faced with many hardships over his short life that he fought through, but Jay-Jay struggled through the loss of his mother Sharon in 2002.

Jay-Jay enjoyed helping others to feel loved and accepted. He spent many of his days in the donation center at Hope Mission in Edmonton.

Jay-Jay’s presence will be missed by many.

A private celebration of Jay-Jay’s life will be announced at a later date for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider making a small donation to Hope Mission, a charity that was dear to Jay-Jay’s heart as he both helped there and was helped by them.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Jay Jay at Hope Mission. We would always take our breaks together even tho we worked in different departments.
Jay Jay left lasting footprints of kindness, empathy and Grace wherever he went. Jay Jay had a meek but mighty influence by example that inspired so many. His acceptance and grace towards others was unshakable. And he loved Jesus. We had been grieving the loss of another coworker together and now I grieve him.
Jay Jay is a very kind man. A man of integrity who loved others for who they were and where they were at without judgement. This gift is so rare in today’s world! He made a difference in so many ways and was so open to share his own experiences. Jay Jay is the kind of person that will ask you to listen to a song….to the words and the message of a song. He had a gift for words and knew that the little things were the biggest moments. He is now safe in the arms of Jesus. Sometimes we wish that God could have let us keep him here for a little while longer. I feel so blessed to call him my friend.
