Ken endured many health challenges over the past few years, facing each with acceptance and unwavering optimism. Despite his warrior efforts and the good fight put forth by his family,
Ken died suddenly at home July 8th, 2025.
Ken began life on the prairies in Wainwright, Alberta on February 24, 1948 with mother Charlotte, dad Clifford alongside siblings Muriel and Ian. He eventually found his way to Edmonton where he continued his education and built a career in telecommunications. Later in life, he found his “joyful job” working with clients at the Robin Hood Association.
His passion for community was evident in his involvement with many charitable organizations. Ken had a wide range of interests, but his favorite “hobby” was making friends. He greeted everyone, friend or stranger, with a great smile and a warm handshake. He was a kind, generous, and welcoming soul to all and touched many with his cheerful outlook and big heart.
Ken drew strength from his Christian faith. He spent 36 years serving with the congregation at Ardrossan United and later rediscovered a spiritual base at Salisbury United Church in Sherwood Park particularly through their on-line Sunday services.
Ken built a life foundation with Lynn for 53+ years and his beloved KC (Mari), Sarah and Laura (Nik) who in turn brought into his life, his greatest treasures, Calleigh, Charlie, William, Elizabeth and angel grandbabies Sage and Everett. Granddog Bella brought cheer to his days. He was intensely proud of his family and loved each immensely.
Thank you to the friends who enhanced his ever shrinking world with visits, coffee outings, meals, chats and calls. It made a difference.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who walked with Ken on this final journey, offering care and compassion: Dr. C. Nelson, Dr.Wm. Keeble, the incredible staff of the U. of A. Hospital Emergency and Respiratory Unit 5E3, Veeral at Sherwood Park Clinical Pharmacy and especially Elina, whose guiding hands and wisdom helped smooth difficult pathways.

I will always remember Uncle Ken’s kindness and smiles. That and his penchant for playing pirates with my dad! 😉 Deepest sympathies to Auntie Lynn and the entire family. Sending hugs from Winnipeg.
We are deeply saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. Ken brought warmth, kindness, and a joyful spirit to his time at the Robin Hood Association. He built strong, genuine connections with the individuals we support and, with all of us who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Ken will be fondly remembered as a happy, caring colleague and a true friend. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
Ken was an awesome guy to work with. I got to know him well on the Circuit Vision project. He was always jovial, I never saw him have a bad day – his glass was always half full. Any dealings with Ken you always left with a smile. His passing makes me sad but the memories make me happy to have known him. So sorry for your loss.

The Warner family relationship with the Wilsons goes back many a year to when several families founded the family gatherings at the Ardrossan Arena. A firm and wonderful relationship was forged with Ken and Lynn and we exchanged kid-care as if we were one big family.
Ken was always a cheerful, positive person with a good humour and even though we had not me for a while, he shall be missed.
John Warner, on behalf of Caroline and Rob.
Ken was the best father-in-law a girl could hope for, a kind and good and generous man, who gave the best hugs and made the funniest jokes. I will remember him with so much love.
My favourite quote from Ken is when he poured me a rum and coke – he handed it to me and said “if it’s too strong, drink it slower”. It was too strong. Much too strong.
