Elfrieda Yvonne Wheaton (nee Jenkins), age 92, formerly of Edmonton Alberta, went to be with her Lord on June 25th, 2025.
Elfrieda is survived by her two children, Roy Wheaton and Kathy Cooper; her five grandchildren, Jordan Wheaton, Katelyn Wheaton, Mitchell Wheaton, Jennifer Cooper and Brandon Cooper; her two great-grandchildren Ivy and Eden Wheaton; her brother, Glenn Jenkins; and her five nieces and nephews, Kevin Jenkins, Kerry Jenkins, Stephen Jenkins, Jessica Jenkins and Julia Jenkins. She is predeceased by her brother, Earl Jenkins; her mother, Gertrude Jenkins; and her father, Cecil Jenkins.
Elfrieda was born September 15th, 1932, in Dummer Township Ontario. She trained to be a teacher and stayed in that profession until she retired in her 65th year. Once she retired, she continued her service to her Church, Peace Portal in White Rock BC, by helping find volunteers to support church events and was instrumental in setting up “Busy Hands”, a group of very talented people who create wonderful clothes, blankets etc for the needy whether in Canada or abroad. She moved to Edmonton in 2019 to be closer to family.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on September 20th, 2025, at the Hendren Funeral Home in Norwood, Ontario. Reverend Mark Kotchapaw will officiate.
