It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Lloyd Cawson, who left us on September 22, 2025 in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 65. Tom was born on March 13, 1960 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to his late parents Robert and Olga Cawson.

He is survived by his siblings Jim, Roberta, Judy, David, and Susan. Tom will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Eleanor, his children and grandchildren who brought him immense pride: Brad, Madalynn, Sarah, Ben, & Rhys. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter Jen, whose memory he carried with him always.

Throughout his life, Tom was known for his kindness, tireless work ethic, and his gift for conversation. His ability to connect with people was unmatched. Whether through his career as a funeral director or while sharpening skates at the Shell rink, Tom built lifelong friendships and made an impression on everyone who crossed his path. A passionate supporter of minor hockey, Tom dedicated many years to the Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association, serving on the executive committee and as part of the Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Referee Association. His love for the game—and the community it created—was a defining part of his life.

Beyond his work and community involvement, Tom found joy in hockey, football, and spending time with the people he loved most. He will be remembered for always being there to lend a hand, for his cheerful outlook, and for the way he lit up every room with his stories and laughter. In memory of Tom, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, an organization close to his heart. Tom’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the community he supported, and the family who will forever carry his love with them.

Whenever we would share a shift, he would always be open to talk about anything, and if I needed to grab something, he would also offer to watch the stand for me. Just a very genuine and sweet guy, who will be very missed. Sending my love to his family and friends.
