Shirley Bernardine MacDonald was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, to Lawrence and Catherine (MacPherson) MacDonald of Somer’s Road, on August 25, 1961.

She was known for her wit, her sharp sense of humor, and her ability to make people laugh no matter the circumstances. Even in her hardest moments, she found a way to crack a joke, lighten the mood, and remind us all not to take life too seriously. More than anything, she lived to bring joy to others. Her laughter filled rooms, her generosity lifted spirits, and her presence left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her sons, Troy Reid and Francis Chisholm; her daughters, Morgan and Laurie Ann Chisholm; She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine (Bernard) Hughes, Bonnie (Shawn) Corning, and Laurie (Brad) Himer; her brothers, John (Annette), Jim (Deanna), Donald (Donna), and Robert (Bernardine); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bernardine was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Catherine MacDonald; her brother, Lawrence; and her sister-in-law, Mary.

Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we take comfort in believing she has found the peace and happiness she so deeply deserves. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who loved her.
