Jason Gilbert Michael Dys
July 16, 1974 – October 4, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Jason.

Born in Calgary, Jason moved to Edmonton at an early age. He attended Sweetgrass Elementary School, Vernon Barford Junior High, and Harry Ainlay High School.

Jason had a deep love for sports. He played baseball, hockey, and golf, and enjoyed skiing and snowboarding. Next to golf, his greatest passion was fishing. He meticulously tied his own flies and pursued his passion throughout Alberta, his favorite destinations in British Columbia, and on several trips to Mexico and the Caribbean. Many summers were spent golfing and fishing at his grandparents’ cottage in Cypress Hills Park, Saskatchewan. He also spent much of his youth and formative years golfing at the Derrick Golf and Winter Club.

Jason is survived by his loving parents, Wilda and Johannes Dys; his siblings, Kimberley Pennell (Eric) and Tyler Dys (Monika); his niece, Elizabeth; and nephews, Michael and Matthew.  He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews throughout Alberta. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Marg and Michael Snyder, and Elisabeth and Gilbert Dys of Lethbridge, as well as his aunt, Ina Dys of Vancouver.

Jason’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital and to the doctors and nurses at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MS Canada in Jason’s memory.
