Velma MacIsaac
December 12, 1949-November 10, 2025
With heavy hearts, the family of Velma MacIsaac, age 75, announce her passing on November
10, 2025.
Velma was born in Sandy Cove, Newfoundland, where her deep warmth, kindness, and gentle
spirit first took root. In 1980, she moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, beginning a new chapter
filled with hard work, resilience, and lifelong friendships. In 1992, she settled in Sherwood Park,
where she spent the rest of her life surrounded by family and the community she cherished.
Velma was known for her genuine heart and her unwavering generosity. She was a loving
mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her quiet strength and unwavering
compassion touched everyone who knew her.
Velma shared an especially profound and devoted bond with her daughter, Katrina. Who over
time became Velma’s constant source of support, caring for her in every way. She also leaves
behind her son Ian, of British Columbia. Velma was a devoted grandmother to Erica; daughter of
her late son Scott; Reid and Katelyn, Katrina’s son and daughter, each of whom brought great
joy to her life.
Velma is predeceased by her beloved son Scott of Fort McMurray, as well as her parents
Andrew and Priscilla White, her sisters Joanna and Una, and her brother Curling.
Beyond her family, Velma leaves behind many wonderful friends made over the years, friends
from Newfoundland, Fort McMurray, and Sherwood Park who remained a cherished part of her
life. Her gentle nature, kindness, and genuine warmth drew people to her, and those friendships
were a great source of comfort, laughter, and companionship throughout her life.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her genuine love for others, and the way she made
every person feel valued and cared for. Velma’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved
her.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who supported Velma throughout her life and
during her final days. A private service will be held at a later date.
