It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Tymkiw on December 30, 2025.
Helen was born on February 3rd, 1939, the daughter of Sophia Shewchuk and Alois Putz. Helen was born in Saskatoon, and as Sophie was a migrant worker, the two gals spent the next few years travelling around the province. She and Sophie later settled in Kindersley, Sask. They lived with and were sort of adopted by the Dobni family. This wonderful family took Helen and Sophie in, and bonds were formed that exist to this day.
Upon graduating high school Helen moved to Calgary. She met and married Arnold Tymkiw. They had a daughter, Tracy. For reasons that no longer matter, this union did not last.
Helen next met and married Donald Kaminski. Their union lasted until Don’s passing in 2011. They shared many passions, interests and adventures together.
Helen had a career with an international helicopter company. She truly loved what she did, and the people she did it with. Her job took her and Don on many trips. Helen retired when she was 80 years of age.
Helen also loved her cats. All rescues, always at least one in residence.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Don, and her brother, Donald Putz. She is survived by her daughter Tracy (Maureen), her best friend Val, as well as Don’s children Shelley, Doug and Brad (Rhea).
As per Helen’s wishes there will be no funeral service. There will be a private family memorial at a later date.
