Albert Sylvester Williams
December 30, 1934 – December 28, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Albert Sylvester Williams on December 28, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, just two days shy of his 91st birthday.
Born in Dennery, St. Lucia, Albert grew up in Castries, where he attended St. Mary’s College. He later immigrated to Canada as a student, earning degrees in Agricultural Science and a master’s in economics at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
Albert dedicated his professional career to public service with the Alberta Government, Department of Transportation, where he served as a Senior Economist.
Albert appreciated the relationships he maintained with family throughout the world, including George Williams (USA) and Clifford Williams (St. Lucia). He is remembered by his two daughters, Elizabeth Williams and Laura Miller (married to Michael D. Miller), his granddaughters Jacqueline and Jazmine Miller, and his former wife Mary Ellen Williams (nee McElrath).
The family is deeply appreciative of the support provided by long-time friends and neighbours, Ingrid and Doug Waksel.
A memorial service will be held later this year in St. Lucia to celebrate Albert’s life.
