September 19, 1943 – June 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that on June 18, 2023, Earl Jerome Tchida, 79, of Sherwood Park, AB, passed away peacefully.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan of 61 years; daughters Sandy, Laurie (Joe), Debbie, and Cathy (Mike); grandchildren Kayla (Mike), Kyle (Jessica), Alexandra, Madison, Keelan, and MacKenzie; and great-granddaughters Thiea, Aurelia ,and Emma; along with many close extended family.

Earl resided in Sherwood Park for 54 years with family close by. Earl enjoyed many
outdoor activities including camping and fishing with family and friends. Earl loved
curling, both in men’s teams and also with mixed teams with Joan by his side. Earl had a passion for animals on the family acreage and loved his many dogs, especially Mickey, who was by Earl’s side for his last 13 years.

A private family celebration will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home & Cemetery, September 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Arnold.

Kevin was born on January 24, 1957 in London, Ontario. He moved to Alberta where he started a family. Kevin had 3 children whom he loved dearly. Kevin passed away in his own home at the age of 66.

Kevin was a kind man. He was a hard worker and a great listener. He was a good friend and a great father.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his children Shawn, Kyle, and Michael; his twin
sister Karen; and many other family and friends.

A Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on October 15, 2023 between 12 pm and 3 pm @ Forest Terrace Heights Community Hall located at 10150 – 80 Street NW Edmonton.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Doug Klarenbach (Cousins) at 64 years of age in Sherwood Park, on September 7th, 2023.

Doug was born in Saskatoon, SK on November 25th, 1958. He moved to Sherwood Park in 1971. Doug was a caring son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, nephew, co-worker, and friend. He was quiet, yet fiercely
protective of his family, especially when it came to his sisters’ potential suitors. He loved the outdoors, golfing, hunting, and passing on those (and many more) skills to his
nephews. He was always willing to help anyone, and his landscaping and carpentry skills were utilized and appreciated by many.

Doug is survived by his mother, Gloria, and his siblings, Pam (Gary) Pilz, Karen Wells, Darilynne Klarenbach (John), Darci Klarenbach (son Ashton), Lori Klarenbach (Dale), and Dustin Klarenbach, along with Carmen Toker (best friend), many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and youngest brother, Joel.

A service in Loving Memory of Doug will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Whitecroft Community Hall, #314 – 52313 Range Road 232, in Sherwood Park.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing, of our beloved Shaun.

Shaun will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Irma Belton, his brother, Robert Martel, his son Justin Martel, his step son Don Stevens, the mother of his sons Erin Stevens; and many extended family members and friends.

Shaun made a beautiful life and home in Edmonton, Alberta. Shaun was a very talented hard worker. He achieved his journeyman certifications in both welding and heavy duty mechanics and he worked in the trades for many years with his last employment with Trimac.

Shaun will always be remembered for his big beautiful smile, his infectious laughter,
humour, smarts and wit, his passion for work, restoration projects, boating,
snowmobiling, biking, love for his dogs and animals, music, dancing, concerts and singing but most of all he will be remembered for his compassion and his big loving heart for his family and friends. He will be missed dearly never forgotten and will remain forever in our hearts.

October 02, 1942 – September 06, 2023

Ray Branchflower passed away quietly at the University of Alberta Hospital on the morning of September 06, 2023 at 80 years of age.

Survived by three children, Ray was a lover of all animals, with a soft heart for adopting cats and dogs in need.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please consider a donation to the SPCA, in Ray’s honour.

Holding to Ray’s final wishes, there will no service held.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Shirley Ann Kopp, after a brave battle with cancer. She was predeceased recently by her dear friend Sharon Bunnin (Sherwood Park AB), Parents Henry and Dorothy Kopp (Bekolay) of Turtle Lake SK, numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of her family. Survived by Uncle Clarence and Marilyn Bekolay (Edmonton AB) and Aunt Patricia Bekolay (St Albert AB)

Surviving are her brothers and sister, Gordon and Karen Kopp (Turtle Lake SK), Calvin Kopp (Holbein SK), Marilyn Kopp and friend Ken (Viking AB), Curtis Kopp (Turtle Lake SK). Nephews Todd and Brenda Kopp (Brandon and Carter) Saskatoon SK) Craig Kopp (Aiden)(Prince Albert SK), Shawn Kopp and friend Karen (Calgary AB), Scott Fraser (Cumberland BC), Andrew and Danielle Fraser (Bonnie and Cameron)(Calgary AB). Nieces Nicole Kopp Hendry and Shawn Hendry (Skyler and friend Robyn)(Calgary AB), Christina Fraser and friend Trevor Cox (Toronto ON), Samantha and Robson Cameron (Mason)(Red Deer AB)

Shirley was and will always be remembered as a kind, honest, loving, and giving person. She made the world a better place for a all that knew her. Shirley was truly admired and walked her own path; she included anyone who wanted to walk beside her, sharing her laughter and her passions with kindness and of authenticity. The odd joke arrived at
unexacting times as well. Shirley loved nature and photography and was never far from her paint brushes. She captured all images in her own way and put them to canvas.

Shirley received her education from the Livelong Elementary School and Turtleford High. She pursued her own multiple paths in horticulture, as a Painter, Writer, (Published and Illustrated her own book- “Jenny Wren, The Special Thank You”) Curled, Swam, Golfed, Skated in boys skates ONLY, Skied downhill and cross-country, just an all round athlete. Unfortunately, her Pet Peeve was she grew up in the age when girls were not allowed to participate in “boys” sports as they can now. Shirley was a bone marrow donor and
volunteer at CanSurmount in honour of her mother, saving the life of another.

Shirley had special bonds with many of her friends and was very appreciative of all the visits, caring, and meals delivered the past few months. Helen Loehr, just a special angel, was Shirley’s go to person when her sister was not present; they shared a special bond. Other special moments in Shirley’s life were filled with time spent at her cabin at Turtle Lake where she grew up, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers, pet sitting and walking her friends and families dogs, and she taught many budgies to talk. She attended all family events for her brothers, and sister and their families – soccer matches, curling bonspiels, hockey tournaments, baseball games, live theatre, tap, jazz, cheerleading, and gymnastic events, graduations, birthday parties and weddings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Allen Recreation Complex, 199 Georgian Way, Sherwood Park, upstairs where she curled. On September 23rd, 2023 at 10:00 AM. At the family’s request, please do not send flowers.

Peter John Sieben passed peacefully away on September 5, 2023 at the University of Alberta Hospital.

He was born on October 2, 1932, on the family farm near Denzil Saskatchewan. Peter was the 4th child and the eldest son of 17 children, and he leaves behind 10 siblings residing in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Peter moved to Ponoka where he met and married Mavis Stuart on December 26, 1956, and moved to Sherwood Park in 1963. He leaves behind his wife Mavis of almost 67 years, his 5 children (Debbie, Kathy, Randy, Kevin and Carleen), their respective spouses/partners, his 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandkids.

While he was an autobody mechanic by trade, he was proud to be a member of the Strathcona County Emergency Services for over 30 years as a firefighter. He started as a volunteer in Ponoka and in Sherwood Park and eventually joined the department full time retiring in 1994.

Peter enjoyed travelling in his retirement as well as spending a few months in the winter in BC with the grandkids while they were younger. Peter was known amongst the grandkids for trips to Tim Horton’s, Grandpa jokes and of course his Sunday brunches! Peter was an avid golfer and passed his love for of the sport onto some of us kids and grandkids – we will always hear his voice ‘Keep your head down’. He loved to walk and one of his favourite spots was behind Station 5 on the trail around Broadmoor Lake Park – go find his bench on the trail – sit, relax and remember him fondly!

Peter lived a very full and long life. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He will be missed but we also know that he lived life well and is now at rest. We will meet up with him again one day!

Joshua Michael George O’Brien Pettigrew
January 5, 1981 – October 16, 2022

Joshua Michael George O’Brien Pettigrew passed away October 16, 2022 @5:52 AM in the arms of his loving mother, Laura Pettigrew at University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton Alberta, Canada. He was only 41 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden, tragic, unnecessary, needless death. Joshua was born premature at 28 weeks January 5, 1981 @ 11:01 PM in Regina General Hospital weighing 2.5 lbs, spending the first 54 days of his life in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit at Regina General Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan Canada.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Laura Pettigrew; younger brother Luke Pettigrew; grandmother Lillian Pettigrew; great aunts Roberta Freethy, and Gail and Darlene Hoskins; uncles Rodney, Ron, and Roger Pettigrew; aunts Kim, Brenda, and Deanne Pettigrew, Roseanne Novak, and Janice Palmer; and numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins.

Joshua was predeceased by his loving grandfather, George Pettigrew (the only father
figure in Joshua and Luke’s life); great grandfather O’Brien Hoskins; great grandmothers Sadie (Sarah) Hoskins and Marguerite Raven; great aunt Phyllis Joorisity; and great
uncles Lou Joorisity, Bill and Les Hoskins, and Harmon Freethy.

Joshua grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan and attended Massey elementary and Campbell high school in French Immersion.

Joshua loved animals; he was drawn to them and them to him. He rescued and had cats which he loved immensely! His cats Missy and Gizmo are on a long walk with him now.

Joshua was a fun, spirited, beautiful soul who took on many passions which included
photography, drawing, musician, singing, (trombone, piano) acting (film) and a published poet. He had incredible artistic talent and culinary skills! He found comfort and peace in capturing raw nature and using it to express himself.

One of his favourite places since he was a young child was the cottage of his
grandparents at South Lake spending weekends and weeks in the summer with his loving mother, brother, grandparents, great grandmother (Sadie), cousins, aunts, uncles,
swimming (taught by his grandmother) skiing, fishing, hiking, exploring nature and in the city biking, skateboarding, rollerblading and in a baseball league. His love of water
includes the ocean, spending time swimming in the Pacific Ocean on vacation in Hawaii and Vancouver Island. Of course his love of golf instilled in, taught by his grandmother
started at age 9 and he was “hooked”. In the winter Joshua loved playing shinny, skating, skiing (taught by his grandfather) which led to snowboarding!

In a word, Joshua was a principled man always in search of the truth. In addition, his
curiosity, inquisitiveness, and keen intellect drove all his pursuits. He wanted to
understand the intricacies of everything and undertook in-depth research so whatever he did, he was all in! He was never scared to take on new opportunities and did
everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was loved by
everyone, due to his kindness, positive energy, incredible patience, and the fact that he always made time to help others!

Joshua spoke French as a second language. He tutored his younger brother and children of friends in addition to every position he was employed able to converse with clients. Furthermore after having Tatiana Moura, an international student from Brazil, staying with Joshua and his mother, he was adept at learning Portuguese, as knowing French, both languages influenced by Latin, use the same sentence structure, and even share common words, similar verbs and terms.

Joshua was a beautiful person inside and out. His stunning smile, warm infectious
laughter, sense of humour would light up the whole room! And his sparkling blue eyes, when he looked you in the eye he was speaking directly to your soul. He cared so deeply for the people around him. He was kind, loving, caring, understanding, generous,
gracious, compassionate and passionate. And those who knew Joshua knew he loved them!

Joshua was a strong fighter, fighting for life at birth and fought to live following his
diagnosis of Liver disease. But now he is flying in his dreams an actual feat he
accomplished while living, “flying an airplane”. He is now on a journey to lands we cannot see. He is free from pain floating peacefully with his cats, Missy and Gizmo over golden prairie fields, mountains, valleys and clear waters of South Lake and the Pacific Ocean singing with his loving grandfather, George Pettigrew! Just keep smiling and singing!…”It’s a Wonderful World”…Live, Laugh and Love

Joshua made an impact on many lives! His legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love, kindness and service. He will be Forever Missed and the lives he touched…….“Forever Changed”…….

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Peters on August 8, 2023, at the age of 56, after a brave battle with cancer. Darlene was born on March 10th, 1967, in Kindersley, SK. She later relocated to Swift Current, SK residing with her parents Helmut & Bertha Peters, before eventually
making Edmonton, Alberta, her home.

Having completed her Administration degree, Darlene embarked on her professional journey at Orange Management, where she served as an office administrator, marking the beginning of a six-year career. While her original intention was to return to work, her heart’s desire led her to devote herself to her greatest passion: being a stay-at-home mom to her three children. She even took on the role of homeschooling her two sons
during their early academic years.

In 1986, fate introduced Darlene to Eric Taylor through a mutual acquaintance in Edmonton. Over the next 37 years, their love story blossomed, demonstrating a level of devotion and care that is rarely witnessed in today’s world. Their bond weathered
challenges, demonstrating Eric’s unwavering support, particularly during Darlene’s
moments of greatest need. He remained by her side until the very end.

Darlene had a love for games, likely stemming from her early love for playing Rook. Among her favorites were Rummy 500, Uno, and any new game that piqued her interest. Her infectious laughter and sense of humor endeared her to others. She relished
spending summer evenings around bonfires and creating cherished memories with her children through various adventures. In her later years she loved to watch movies and tv shows with her youngest son Jesse. It is a part of his life with her he will miss.

An animal lover, Darlene’s home was often graced with pets, especially dogs, which
became an integral part of her family. Bailey, Nala, Reese, and Fiona, her cherished pets she left behind, miss her spirit and kind soul.

Her love for music, particularly classic rock, was evident, and she gradually embraced other genres over the years. She listened to her music night and day in the final weeks of her life. As her daughter walked out of room for the last time before she passed away playing in the background was “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac. It was the way she did everything: her own way. She was a woman of faith, she found solace in reading devotionals and living a calm and peaceful life with the people who mattered most.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Helmut Peters, in 2001, as well as her grandparents: Abe Klassen (2002), Judith Klassen (2010), Susie Peters (1994), and Henry Peters (1995).

She is survived by her mother Bertha, her husband of 37 years, Eric Taylor, and her three children: Danielle (Mauricio) Peters of Tampa, FL; and Aaron (Rachel) Peters, and Jesse Peters, both of Edmonton, AB.

She is also survived by seven siblings: her brothers, Cam of Medicine Hat, AB; Darcy (Janyce) Weins of Lloydminster, AB; and David Peters of Northern Alberta; and her
sisters, Wanda (Ron) Behnke of Regina, SK; Yvonne (Martin) Wriglesworth of Powell River, BC; Dawnella (Doug) Ginn of Calgary, AB; and Kathy Alldarice (Troy) of Morden, MB; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

Darlene’s legacy also continues through her three beloved grandchildren: Ava (3), Oliver (1), and Austin (6 weeks).

She will be missed more than words could ever describe and the loss felt.
