Eleanor Willis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Willis, age 90 on May 22nd, 2020.

Eleanor, better known as Jo, was a successful realtor in the Edmonton area for many years. She married second husband, Thomas (T.O.) Willis in 1982 and they relocated to Kelowna, B.C. in 1989. T.O. passed away in 2006 and Eleanor relocated to Edmonton to be close to family in 2011. She had many lifelong friends and was passionate about cooking, music and a good game of cards. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are Dennis (Phyllis); Linda; Delbert (Jacky); Richard (Yvonne); Patti and Tim, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Her love of family, sense of humour, and her kind and generous heart will be deeply missed.

Jennifer (Elaine) Landry

It is with profound sadness that the family announces Elaine passed away suddenly at Victoria Jubilee Hospital on March 19, 2022. Just months after her 63 birthday, she was taken too early from us. Elaine was born in Sackville N.B. where she lived most of her life. Elaine enjoyed her working years with many friends as a CCA at the Drew NH, and then later endeavored in new journeys with Amazon and UPS. She is predeceased by her loving parents Edmond and Norma (Le Blanc) Landry; her sisters Clara-Ann and Marilyn; her infant brother Jason Troy; her paternal grandparents William and Florida (Richard) Landry; and her maternal grandparents Leo and Clara (Caissie) Le Blanc.

She is survived by many family members that she loved dearly in New Brunswick: Her son Cory Sears, Midgic N.B.; her sisters Diane Jakubiec, Sackville N.B.; Tammy (Vernon) Phinney, Timber N.B.; her brothers Layton (Debbie) Hannah, Midgic N.B.; Gerry (Brenda) Landry, Point de Bute; and David Landry, Point de Bute N.B.; several nieces and nephews; and her very sweet great nephew Warren (Becky Connor Walton) of Port Elgin.

In Victoria BC: her very devoted and loving partner Joe, and daughter Bobbi-Jo.

Elaine will be sadly missed by her family and friends whose lives she touched. She was a kind and loving person who appreciated time connecting with family/friends, painting rocks to gift, drives to the ocean, bingo and yard sales. At Elaine’s request, there will be a private committal for the family and close friends at Point de Bute Cemetery where she will rest with her parents. A special thank you to all staff and friends at Victoria Kidney Care Clinic; many other staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital; and attendants, along with fellow patrons, of Victoria Regional Transit for caring for Elaine over the last few years.

Sandra Lynne Orenchuk

On September 28, 2023, Lynne Orenchuk (Scott), of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 75 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Lynne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lori (Alan), and 2 sons, Brent and Kevin (Allison); 6 grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, Dylan, Carly, Zachary, Nathaniel and 3 great-grandsons, Finnick, Bellamy and Bennett, her sister, Fay (Walter), sister-in-laws, Lucille and Rosana, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Lynne was predeceased by her husband, Archie, her parents, Garnet Nelson Scott and Phyllis Marjorie (Oliver), and her 2 brothers, Wayne Scott and Michael Scott.

Lynne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who lived for her
family. She loved her diet coke, Tim Hortons iced cap, ice cream, her dogs, and travelling every winter with Archie. In addition to spending time with her family.

Interment will be held at noon on Friday, October 27, at Westlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, AB.

Garry Hoogenberg

Garry Hoogenberg passed away at the age of 72 on August 27, 2023.

Garry was born in Sneek, Netherlands on June 20, 1951. He was predeceased by his parents Ynze and Atje (Ann) Hoogenberg, brother Dick Hoogenberg, sister Alice Spang and wife Vicki Hoogenberg.

Garry will be lovingly remembered by sons Brad (Amber) Hoogenberg, Scott (Megan) Hoogenberg, Ryan (Miyoshi) Hoogenberg, and Jason Hoogenberg; as well as step sons Lee Savoie and Darren Savoie; several grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Floyd Leon Furgeson

Floyd passed away in his sleep. We are having a Ceremony of Life at the Kingsway Legion in Edmonton on October 29th at 3pm.

After ceremony there will be an open stage for musicians. Open to everyone.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Fraser at the age of 41.

He was predeceased by his Grandfather Gordon Sandwith, Grandmother Jean Junior, and Grandfather Manson Fraser.

He is survived by his son Christian Fraser, His parents Larry and Marilyn Fraser, His brother Nelson and his wife Mandy Fraser and their children, His Grandparents Edith and Gerry Brass, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life on November 3 at 7 PM at Westview Village Hall
located at 10770 Winterburn Road (215 St). All friends and family welcome.

Sonia Rywak

Today our hearts are broken. Sonia passed away peacefully in the hospital with her children by her side. Sonia is survived by her children – Melanie (Darrell) Wilvers & Ryan (Nissa) Rywak; 2 grandchildren – Kaden Sczesny & Kasia Sczesny; brother Roger (Irene) Burak; sister Roseanne (Brian) Macphee; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Sonia was sadly predeceased by her husband of 55 years Larry Rywak whom she lost 10 months ago; parents Peter & Josie Burak; brother Dan (Violet) Burak; brother-in-law John Rywak; sisters-in law Mildred Rywak, Margaret (Sam) Iwanika, Helen (Karl) Zilinski, Ann (Steve) Porfon, Albina Hula; nephews Randy Iwanika & Dennis Porfon; and niece Kristen Burak.

Sonia worked for 26 years as a secretary in the Education department at the University of Alberta before retiring with Larry over 18 years ago where they enjoyed their
retirement golfing both here & in Palm Springs.

Sonia loved her family more than anything. Her love for her men at Broadmoor Golf Course where she volunteered every Wednesday for more than 10 years was close
behind. She loved baking cookies for them every week and enjoyed all the love they gave her.

Sonia always made time for her friends and family and they all knew that she would
always be there for them. She loved volunteering and was always helping people
wherever she could. She just wanted everyone to be happy. That was very important to her. Please don’t be sad for her, she’s back in the arms of her first & only love Larry.

We want to extend a special thank you to all the staff in unit 51 at the Grey Nun’s Hospital for your incredible support for Sonia & her children during her short stay there, especially Dr. Cox & Dr. Hoffart, med student Cassandra, nurses Sales, Marjorie, Murray & Keri. You took such good care of her in her final days and were so kind and gentle to her.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 1:00pm at St. Sophia Catholic Church, Baseline Rd, RR224, Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Rick Ramjohn

Rick’s family is devastated to announce his passing following a brief battle with cancer, on September 17,2023 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. He was just 62 years young.

Rick Imtiaz Ramjohn was born in Marabella, Trinidad, WI. Rick
immigrated to Canada with his parents and four brothers as a young boy of 9 years. The family settled in Edmonton, and Rick lived in Edmonton the rest of his life.

Rick was a kind and gentle man, with a big smile and a bigger heart. He loved his family and enjoyed a ‘fete’ with his brothers and friends, old and new. He loved meeting people and entertaining. He also loved music and could be counted on to be up on the dance floor every chance he got. Rick enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially watching football and hockey.

Rick was predeceased by his father Asingh and his brother Paul. He leaves to cherish his memory His Mother, Monica; daughters Rhea (Oscar) and Kendra (Calvin); brothers Andrew, Errol and Anderson (Madi); grandchildren Timo, Olivia and Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews and extended family, plus many friends who were like family.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Cross Cancer Institute would be appreciated.

Edward Vredegoor

It is with great sadness in our hearts that the family announces the passing of Edward Allan Maurice Vredegoor from December 4th 1985- September 20th 2023.

Edward will be dearly missed for his charismatic and happy go lucky personality. He was always readily available to lend a helping hand . Edward is survived by his only son Kingstyn. His mother Theresia Vredegoor. His siblings Rene, Greta (Darren), Sandra, Anthony (Amanda), Hendrina (Gordie) and Martin (Trish), along with all his nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Edward was predeceased by his father Marinus and sister Ruth.

A celebration of Life will be held October 6th, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Jubilee Hall in Wabamun Alberta, with a light luncheon to follow service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pay Forward Kindness.

Janice Elizabeth Johnson

Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Janice Elizabeth Johnson, of Sherwood Park, AB and formerly Regina, SK, passed away on September 13, 2023 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by her family in her home.

Janice was born on July 23, 1938 in Earl Grey, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood on the farm with her dog and her horse. After graduating, she moved to the big city of Regina where she worked for the Saskatchewan Government, when she met her dashing husband, James Frederick Johnson. They were married in Regina July 18, 1964, and had two children, Karla and Glen before moving to Sherwood Park in 1978. Janice was an active volunteer in the community working with friends in the Girl Guides of Canada, Victim Services, Festival Place, Pipefitters Union 488 and many other local events. Her home was adorned with petit point pictures she stitched herself and shows her love of flowers. Jim and Janice both spent many an afternoon or evening at the local bowling alley with friends and she was able to bowl up until the last few months of her life. She is predeceased by her parents Anna (Christoph) and Karl Mischpeter and leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Jim Johnson; two children Karla (Peter) Le Cheminant of Airdrie, Alberta and Glen (Doris) Johnson of Carmacks, Yukon; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Schick, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on October 14th, 2023 at 1:00 pm, at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Ardrossan (52233 Range Road 221. Sherwood Park, AB. T8E 1C9), Pastor Gary Braeuer will be officiating the service. Private family internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
