Robert (Bob) Montague Meyer passed away suddenly January 13, 2023.

Predeceased by his parents, and sister in law, Bob leaves behind a daughter, son in law, grandchildren, spouse, brother, sister, nieces, nephews and a grand niece.

Bob was born August 21, 1946 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Monty and Cathey Meyer, the oldest of their three children. When Bob was a young man, Monty and Cathy sold all their belongings, purchased a sailboat and with their now almost grown children, sailed around the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas for two years before returning to Canada and resettling on the west coast. This adventure was often recalled fondly by Bob and sealed his love for traveling to warm climates.

Bob spent most of his working life as a caregiver for disabled adults. The impact he had on the individuals he cared for and their families was significant. Bob was a patient and fun loving father, always ready to spend time playing board games, biking, skiing or mini-golfing. Bob was also an avid golfer, and perhaps his only real disappointment in being a parent was that he couldn’t instill his love of the game in his daughter.
Bob’s good nature and sense of humor will be missed by his family, friends and
colleagues.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.

Lyle Scott Smith

Obit-photo_SMITH

Lyle was born and raised in Edmonton. He studied Culinary Arts at NAIT and worked at some of the best restaurants, but he was especially proud of his time at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

An avid hockey fan, when Lyle wasn’t watching the game, you would most likely find him in the kitchen cooking something delicious and
jamming out to music. Lyle would have been celebrating his 4th year of sobriety this month, an achievement of which his family were all incredibly proud.

Daily Affirmation for January 29 – The Joy of Sharing:
Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends — this is an experience you must not miss. We know you will not want to miss it. Frequent contact with newcomers and with each other is the bright spot of our lives.
– Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 89
To know that each newcomer with whom I share has the opportunity to experience the relief that I have found in this Fellowship fills me with joy and gratitude. I feel all the things described in A.A. will come to pass for them, as they have for me, if they seize the opportunity and embrace the program fully.

Lyle will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his son Scott (Candice); daughters Samantha (Scott) and Melissa (Doug); his 8 beautiful grandchildren; and his brothers Randy and Barry Smith. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret Kirkpatrick and Paul Smith, and his sister Darlene Smith.

Please help us to celebrate our father’s life by sharing any photos or videos you have of him at the email address inmemoryoflylesmith@submit.memento.com, or by uploading them directly to the photo album here.

Prayer for Serenity
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Clifford (Cliff) Joe Lucy

Cliff-Lucy-Pic-from-Curaco-Cruise.png

Clifford (Cliff) Joe Lucy passed away suddenly at the age of 86 on December 24, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Born December 7, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Reginald (Reg) and Rosamond (Rose) Lucy (Payne).  Cliff was brother to Kaye (Chuck) Holloway, John (Joy) Lucy, and Walt (Charlotte) Lucy,  all of whom have predeceased him.

During his formative years, Cliff, along with his siblings, spent many summers in Barriere, British Columbia.  These years were spent having adventures, enjoying the great
outdoors and chumming around with friends.  These friends he maintained until their own passing.

On February 27, 1960, Cliff married the love of his life, Valerie Smart. They went on to create four great kids; Terry (Barb), Corinne (Brock), Michael (Stacey) and Christine (Jamie).  While raising their kids, Cliff took a crack at coaching sports the kids played such as softball and hockey.   Later on, he became a grandfather (Papa) to six grandchildren; Martin (Tara), Anna, Kelsey, Cameron, Hunter and Holly.

Cliff wore many hats during his working life.  His first job, as a young lad, was courtesy of his dad, Reg, a manager at a cannery. After completing school Cliff drove for Grange Mattress then moved into sales for Gates Rubber.  After a few years of traveling all over BC and points North, Cliff returned home and went to work as a Vancouver Transit Driver on the lower mainland.

The desire to appease his gypsy-like lifestyle led Cliff, Val and the kids to make the move to Quesnel in Caribou country, the heart of the BC interior.  Here Cliff would work as a car salesman.  Later, he would own and operate his own logging truck.  As a lover of the great outdoors, time living in Quesnel gave way for hunting as well as freshwater and ice fishing.  All things he loved.

In 1981, he and Valerie made the move to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.  This allowed for more mountains, beautiful ocean and the desire to land much bigger fish!  For a few years Cliff operated a part-time fishing charter with their boats.  He and Val had the good fortune to trail their 24 ft Sabre Craft up the Port Alberni Canal to try their hands at
fishing the big salmon.

During their 16 years living in Nanaimo, Cliff was employed as a car salesman, then worked for Shell Canada delivering oil for residential heating and finished his working
career as a Municipal Transit Driver in Nanaimo.

In 1996 Cliff and Val retired to Smoky Lake, Alberta.  They purchased a small acreage and enjoyed raising chickens and a few head of cattle.  After enduring a few brutally cold Alberta winters, the two decided to set their sights on the warmer temperatures of Yuma, Arizona.  Here they both enjoyed sunshine, the heat, golfing and spending time with friends.

Cliff was a remarkable person.  We admire you immensely for everything you did; your vitality, your zest for life, what you stood for, and especially how fiercely you loved us all.

Your memory will live on forever through all of those that meant the most to you, those you loved and who loved you back.

A great husband, a dedicated father and a friend to many!

Eustace Fitzroy Dover

Eustace Fitzroy Dover

October 8th, 1951 – Jan. 15th, 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Eustace. Beloved husband for 22 years to Micki (Michelle) Dover, proud Father to Keeshon and Taymon, Brother to Trevor Charles and Sandra (Laurie) Sargeant, Son to Alwilda Sargeant, Nephew to Dorothy (Melvin) Bailey and Janice Headley. He was also Godfather to Sheena Semeniuk, Shane Cornelius and Kayla Lambert Shepard.

He was predeceased by his Brother, Robert (Steven) Charles and his Dad, Basil Dover. He was born on the beautiful Island of Antigua, and moved to Canada in his early 20’s, first living in Toronto, then Winnipeg and eventually settling down in Edmonton, Alberta. He became a Canadian Citizen in 1991.

Eustace was an extremely hard-working man who was passionate about the game of football and would enjoy a beer after a long hard day at work. All of which he got through because of a fierce love and desire to support his family. He loved his two sons and taught them, among many things, to grow up to be hard-working young adults and always
emphasized that they were to take care of their Mom, his wife, Micki. Whom he adored from the moment he met her 28 years ago.

Eustace was loved by all who were blessed to know him.
As per his wishes, he was cremated and we will celebrate his life in a unique way that he would absolutely love, on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023. We know he will be cheering on and continuously supporting his family from his place of peace.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honour to
Eustace’s favourite charity, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in Edmonton, AB.
