Randolph Broderick Peters

RANDOLPH BRODERICK PETERS (RANDY) – OF GALAHAD – died unexpectedly on December 30, 2021 at his residence in Galahad, AB. He was born September 6, 1956 in Morden, Manitoba, son of Henry Peters and Nettie (Dyck) Sept.

After high school in Portage LaPrarie, Randy went on to Red River College in Winnipeg and graduated as an Autobody Tech. Randy moved to Alberta with his cousin Rob in 1974, the rest of the Peters’ family would follow in the coming years. He went on to achieve his Apprenticeship in Welding, 1 st Class in 1982, ‘B’ Pressure Welding Certification in 1986, and became registered as a ‘B’ Pressure Welder in British Colombia in 1991. He maintained dual provincial registration with various alloys and metals including ‘Tig’ Welding, where he would be known amongst colleagues by the nickname “Tigger” in a career that would span the better part of four decades.

Throughout his life Randy always was ready and willing to try anything new. He
experienced underwater welding and turned his passion for welding into a hobby; saving
aluminum cans and welding rods that he would use to make roses. Randy took his rose making on the road and would sell them on the road side markets all over Alberta, the B.C. interior and coast, New Zealand, and Jamaica to name a few. Jamaica would be the country that captured Randy’s heart and he worked towards living out his retirement years there.

Randy greatly enjoyed sports like playing hockey, chess, and billiards. He competed in Karate as a Black Belt, winning trophies as a young adult. Randy was also an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved golfing, rappelling, and mountain climbing, and often would use these adventures to be one with nature again. For much of his career as a welder he would stay in the nearest campground in his outfitters tent. Even the local furry friends would have a friend in Randy, as he fed them peanuts out of the shell. He had a couple trained so well they would walk right up to him and ate out of hand in his lap.

Randy’s love of art did not stop at making roses, he would discover a love of wood
working inspired by his father, Henry. Randy made chainsaw carvings out of tree stumps. He made numerous pieces of furniture and was certainly handy doing anything in the yard or on his sister’s farm. Della and Don’s farm would be a constant for him, a place that
always felt like home.

Randy met Leona Lowe in Alberta and married in 1976. They had two daughters
together: In 1977 came Shantelle Lee (Bruce), and Shanette Dawn in 1979. Randy and Leona divorced in 1986. Two more daughters then came: Ashley, in 1990, and Rhandi Cheyenne (Matt) in 1993.

Randy is survived by his parents; Henry Peters (Isabel) and Nettie; his
siblings Della (Don) Jess, Sam (Marie) Peters, Luke (Bev) Peters, and Laura (Al) Calkin. Randy is also survived by his grandchildren: from Shantelle, Samantha, Mason, and Brooklyn; from Shanette, Elisha and Robert; and from Rhandi Cheyenne, Rowen.
Randy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout Randy’s life he always supported the underdog. He would not hesitate to come to your defence and if you had a friend in Randy, you had a friend for life. Randy was passionate about The War Amps and donated every year, this was largely inspired by his father’s career as an airplane mechanic in the forces.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to The War Amps. A service will not be held, as was the wishes of the deceased, but rather a bon-fire farewell to our beloved Dad, Grandpa Tigger, brother and son. May you forever rest in peace.

Gary William Delorey

Gary passed away on February 19, 2022, at the Misercordia Hospital in Edmonton after a short battle with COVID19. He had underlying issues that made it hard to treat.

Gary was a diehard Edmontonian, and proud of it. He loved his Eskimos and Oilers, but he would happily watch any team play so long as he could provide his own commentary and cuss out the refs for not doing their job right.

He was an admitted loner, and he spent most of his time alone, quietly reading about
anything that piqued his curiosity, or watching sports and the odd documentary. In his
final years, he had his beloved girl, Sadie, by his side to keep him going forward, though she sadly passed two months prior.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jack Delorey (Rose) and Agnes Collin (George), and his brother David Collin. He is survived by his sisters Roxanne Hebert, Kathryn Hackett, and Cara-Lee Secord; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

As per Gary’s wishes, no service was held, and his ashes will be spread at an undisclosed location.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

For those that wish to, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was a fan and supporter of the Liverpool Football Club (You’ll Never Walk Alone). He was also a fan of the CFL and was a huge supporter of the Hamilton Tiger Cats.

Philip had a passion for music of all kinds and a deep love of literature, and he had
acquired an extensive collection of both. Friday night movies at the theatre with friends was also a favourite activity.

Philip loved to travel and returned to Great Britain on several occasions over the years, to visit family in England and Scotland. The most recent trip was in 2016, when he and Patricia also took a cruise of the Mediterranean to celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary. Philip also loved the outdoors and camping. He and Patricia took many trips through western Canada in their motorhome, but their favourite spots were always in the Rocky Mountains.

Philip will be remembered for his sense of humour and infectious laughter. Family was so very important to him. He was a loving, compassionate, and generous person, and will be greatly missed.

Jonathan Christopher Beleshko

In Loving Memory

Jonathan Christopher Beleshko passed away peacefully at his home in Edmonton on March 11, 2022. Jon would have turned 34 years old on March 28th. Born to Nancy Brenneman and Ken Beleshko, Jon was the second child in the family after his sister Jenn.

Jon spent his early years growing up in the Millcreek neighbourhood and attended King Edward elementary school, where his artistic interests were visual art and music. He
became a member of the Dancing Elephants and Performing Peanuts in the afterschool program there – the beginning of his performance career. Jon graduated from the Victoria School of Performing Arts in 2006.

Jon was a kind and loving man with a beautiful smile and big brown eyes. He met and
became engaged to the beautiful Lisa Bonato and enjoyed travelling to her home in Australia in 2016.

Jon developed many talents during his life:

He became an accomplished musician and led indie-alternative music projects including Ursa Minor and Abruzzi Spur. The bands performed locally and recordings are on well-known streaming platforms. Jon played lead guitar and sang from his heart – “In a Box” tells of the struggles he endured.

Jon was an avid fly fisherman. He was never happier than when he had a beautiful brown trout, small mouth bass, Australian barramundi in his hands. Fishing fed his soul.

Jon was very athletic. He became one of the nomadic boys who roamed the streets in search of the perfect skateboard ramp. As a member of Young Life he trained at skateboard and snowboard camps. He was once captured by the Edmonton Journal doing a snowboard backflip over the full moon.

Jon chose a career in welding and during his training with the 488 Pipefitters Union, he became the Canadian apprentice champion. He achieved accreditation as a B-pressure welder, Red Seal.

Jon chased extreme weather phenomena with a passion. He was also an amateur
pyrotechnician and rocket launcher extraordinaire. Many stories can be told.

Jon struggled with mental health and addiction. He became a member of the AA
community and was a mentor to many of his friends. He finally succumbed to his struggle and sadly left us way too early. He will be sorely missed by his mother, Nancy Brenneman; father, Ken Beleshko (Czyndhi); sister, Jenn Engberg (Peter) and nephew, Dawson; half brother, Scott Gray; his aunt, Heather Brenneman; uncles David Brenneman (Dianne), Ron Brenneman (Jan), and Harry Beleshko; cousins, Kendall and Ferrell Beleshko; and many other relatives and friends.

Jon is at peace and with us in our hearts.

Celebration of Jon’s life will be held at Queen Mary Park Community Hall (10844 117 St NW) in Edmonton, on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Donations in Jon’s memory may be made to Moms Stop the Harm.
