On January 13th 2022, we said goodbye to Christina Ann Wells Chaffee. Christina was born October 5, 1957, in Montreal, Quebec to Don and Pat wells, who raised her and her sister and brothers in Ottawa. Christina attended Algonquin College there, completing her nursing diploma in 1977 and was privileged to work on the first palliative care ward in Canada. Her career took her West, where she met her husband and the love of her life, Robert, in Edmonton Alberta. They married in 1981 and traveled North, living in Ft. Nelson British Columbia and Inuvik, Northwest Territories before settling back down in the town of Beaumont, Alberta. It was during those itinerant years that Christina developed her other great loves: her sons Matthew and Michael, and art. An avid painter and watercolourist, Christina was a long-standing member of the Beaumont Artist’s Association and volunteered her time to teach painting to the students at J.E Lapointe School. Christina was always the neighborhood Mom, and her house was always full of the people most in need of a listening ear.
In her later years, Christina was blessed with five grandsons, whom she loved furiously, sang songs with, and crafted jewelry for. Jewelry making was another expression of her artistic energy, and a productive craft with which she could engage family and friends.
In her final days, Christina again found herself in a palliative care ward, but with her role reversed. Even at that, she continued to make friends with the other patients around her, sharing her art and music. In her final moments she was cared for with a tenderness and compassion that honored her and brought full circle the values with which she’d lived her whole life. Christina is survived by her husband Robert; her sister, Juanita; her brothers Christopher and William; her sons Matthew and Michael; her Grandsons Judah, Caleb, Gabriel, Seth, and Thorin; her dear father William Donald Wells; and the countless other lives that she impacted with her love. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia.
The family is deeply grateful to the Kaye Edmonton Family Practice Clinic for many years of great care. We are also very grateful for the patience, grace, and skill of the nurses, physicians, and others who cared for her so well in her final weeks.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brenda Lee Arcand announce her passing on Monday January 17 2022 at the age of 59 years young.
Brenda will be forever remembered by her husband Tim of 39 years, her son Kyle (Melissa) and daughter Kaitlyn (Brandon), her grandchildren Liam and Cade, as well as her mom Sally, brother Darren, sisters Val and Bev, and many nieces and nephews.
Brenda was an amazing person, and friend. She was a joy to be around and a beautiful soul!
Brenda was a Financial Advisor with Investors Group for over 20 years. For her clients she was more than an advisor but a trusted friend.
Cremation has taken place and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Society or Cross Cancer Institute.

It is with deep sadness that the family announce Pauline Patricia Beland’s (nee Adams) peaceful passing on January 14, 2022.

She will lovingly be remembered by her sons Ronald, Michael (Marnie), daughter Chantal (Dean); grandchildren Ryan (Alicia), Richard, Acacia, Raeghan, Joshua, Zachary, Nathan, Logan, Dolly; great grandchildren Wesley, Sophie and Raiyden; brother Russell; sister Yvonne; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Ron Beland, her parents John and Doris Adams and daughter Katherine.

Pauline was born in Leeds, England and moved to Canada with her mother and father. She was raised in Ontario where she met the love of her life, Ron. Together, they settled in Alberta to raise a family.

Pauline will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, and grandmother. She spent countless hours playing board games with her children and grandchildren and was always up for a game. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and a master gardener. She would often retreat to her garden and always enjoyed the beauty the outdoors offered. In 1996, Pauline retired with her husband to Island Lake, where they enjoyed good friends and good laughs.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the health care professionals at the Misericordia hospital and the Cross Cancer Institute. A special thank you to Dr. Burger of the Athabasca Family Health Centre.

A private celebration will be held for the immediate family.

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Keith Kingshott.
Keith passed away on November 27th 2021 in Edmonton Alberta.
Keith was a warm, caring man with a heart of gold. His hugs were one of a kind.
His greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his 3 children Kyle, Kane & Kristina, 8 grandchildren Kolby, Brooklynn, Dyson, Hannah, Karsen, Kalina, Royal & Reign. His 2 sisters June, Teena, brother Steve and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Tove and Buck, both paternal and maternal grandparents, his brother in law Clark and his son in law Shane.
He will be missed by many. There will not be a service at this time.

Natalie Ungstad (nee Yaremko)
1937-2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mom, Natalie Ungstad on Jan 11, 2022. Natalie will be deeply missed by her loving family and dear friends. Sons Darrell, Colin (Susan) and Doug (Corri) Grandchildren Kristen, Kelsey, Natalia, Brandon, Dylan, Ryan and Shayla. Brothers David (Louise), Cy (Laurie) and Glen (Marilyn) Yaremko.
She was predeceased by her husband Erland Ungstad and her parents Metro and Mary Yaremko.
After graduating from Leduc High School she worked at the Jasper Ave Branch of CIBC until her marriage to Erland. After Erlands passing, she went on to work at Kensington Day Care for a number of years, where she proudly cared for the children as if they were her own.
Natalie was a caring, generous person, who dedicated her life to helping others. She took great pride in her grandchildren and was always concerned with everyone’s well being. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

On January 13, 2022, we lost our dear Uncle George. George Hayes was born on May 30, 1937, the youngest of 6 children born to Jane and Charlie Hayes in Strome, Alberta. He was 84 years old. Although George was predeceased by his loving parents and brother & sisters, George leaves to mourn his sister-in-law Rosemary, 8 nieces and nephews, Beth (Ian), Peggy Anne (Barry), Bob (Judy), Barb (Peter), Pat (Shawna), Mary Jane (David), Susan (Brian), and Dan along with numerous great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

George graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology as a Civil Technologist. His extensive career as a surveyor with the Federal Government saw him assisting with the development of many of the airports in Western Canada, south to Calgary and north in the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. In his later years he worked as a consultant for small aircraft accidents.

Although George is no longer with us, few of us will fail to remember him when we pick up a remote-controlled toy, a model train set, see an extensive collection from the Franklin Mint, or when we overhear an argument about how the Oilers are doing.

Cremation and private interment will take place at a later date. We ask everyone who remembers George to celebrate in their own way.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Johan (John) T. Schols announce his passing on January 13th, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease and its complications at the age of 78 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, best friend and soulmate of 30 years, Lois. Also mourning his passing are daughter Joey(Brian), grandchildren Breanna, Alexa (Mike), brothers Leo, Art, Joey (Barb), sister Maria(Joe), as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arie and Everdiena. John was born and grew up in Rotterdam. He emigrated to Canada in 1965 and worked tirelessly in the restaurant industry for 30 years. Following his retirement from the restaurant industry he went to work for Groupex-Edmonton for 15 years. He was an active member of Uncles at Large for many years and worked hard to successfully bring his siblings to Canada for a better life. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area or Parkinson Association of Alberta.

It is with great sadness that the family of Eugene (Gene) Stefaniuk announce his passing on December 17, 2021 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert, at the age of 74. Gene was born June 12, 1947 in Radway Alberta and was the oldest of 5 siblings. Predeceased by his father Michael in 1998, mother Victoria in 2004 and nephew Curtis Holowach in 2015.

Gene will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sons Ian and Kyle, also son Robert Pearse, daughter Christine Pearse, granddaughters Amanda Pearse, Alberta Pearse and grandson Cody Pearse.

He is survived by his brother Alvin, sisters Iris Dach (Allan), Sonia Holowach (Dave) and Sylvia Brown (Gordon) and numerous nephews and nieces, who will miss him dearly.

Gene was a very good auctioneer, working in the Edmonton and Rimbey area in the stockyards. Besides livestock, he would also work equipment and vehicle auctions. He also worked in the trucking industry for many years, driving and dispatching, and really got to know a lot of people.

With all of the different things he did, Gene was a cowboy at heart and loved the rodeo circuit, trying his hand at bull riding, steer wrestling and saddle bronc. His love for horses led him to owning quarter horses and his special thoroughbred ‘Born Too Bold’, that he raced in Calgary and Edmonton. He had so many friends at ‘the barns’.

Gene was an adventurous, fun loving, kind man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He was someone who, once you met, you would always remember.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
