On January 7, 2021, Walter passed at the Miller Crossing Long Term Care Facility in Edmonton Alberta. He is survived by his two sons Brent and Jason, daughter Stacy, and grandson Nolan. He will be missed. Rest in peace dad.

Your wings were ready but our hearts were not… on January 21, 2021 Wayne C. Stephen Chizawsky passed away, in the comfort of his Edmonton home, in the arms of his eldest daughter – Lesa. In his fast and furious battle with cancer, Wayne spent the last few weeks of his life surrounded by his 2 daughters (Kim Sellick & Lesa Fee), his son-in-laws (Wesley Sellick & Stephen Fee) and his 4 beloved grandchildren (Ty & Trinity Ehlers and Chase & Lexie Fee).

Wayne was lovingly known to many as “Cheezie” and could always be counted on to make time to lend a helping hand or a listening ear – usually over a beer – for any of his friends or family. He will forever be remembered for his ability to deliver one-liners that would leave you chuckling for days, even years. A favourite to many would be “Who’s the best looking guy in this place; and why am I?”

Wayne had a long and rewarding career as a top salesman for Facelle Royale and various petfood companies. His good looks and charming personality served him well and he enjoyed the social aspect of his career. After his retirement he worked at odd jobs to keep busy through the winters but you would be more likely to find him hanging with his best buds at Richard’s Pub or spending his summers at one of his favorite lakes.

Fishing was always a passion for Wayne and through the years it became a favourite hobby of the entire family. Everyone fought for time on the ‘Misty River’ fishing for walleye with Dad/Pappa. Often there was a two-bit bet and someone’s reputation on the line!

Summer nights spent around the campfire will always be a fond memory – if you were one of the lucky few, you were able to listen to his favourite stories of his carnie days which may have even included a quick “hot dog song” complete with dance.

In addition to his daughters, their families and many amazing friends, Wayne will be lovingly missed by his brother Reg (Lynn) Chase of White Rock and sister Kim (Joe) Chizawsky of Kamloops. He is pre-deceased by his mother (Cecilia), father (Stephen), brother – Leonard Chase, sister – Judy Chizawsky.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be arranged later in 2021 when COVID restrictions have been eased and we can gather friends and family together to remember our amazing Dad.

Don’t worry Daddy-O we will keep the Misty River afloat and the fishing tradition going – we all know the secret to catching the biggest fish: celery sticks and sparkly hooks. We love you – now & forever.

Andrea Mae Brodeur May 6 1972-January 23 2021.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrea, she was peacefully surrounded by her loving family amidst music and candlelight. Andrea was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education in Elementary. She married her High School sweetheart Roger in 1996 and they eventually moved to Denver Colorado, but ultimately returned home to start their family. Andrea was a devoted mother who spent quality time with her children and enjoyed all their endeavours. She was an avid volunteer in the School, Hockey and Dance communities.

Andrea enjoyed all the family vacations, especially the time in California. Andrea gave to so many and always approached tasks with creativity and excitement. Andrea shared her Courageous battle with cancer in hopes to educate and inspire others facing adversity. We mourn her loss, but rejoice that she was a part of our lives. She is survived by her husband Roger, children Ty and Isabelle, parents Bonnie and Ed Berg, brother Stewart Berg (Anita) nephews Kai and Aksel, brothers-in-laws Darryl, Terry (Renee) sisters-in-law Tracy and Marilyn, nieces Danielle and Kennedy, nephews Conner, Carter, Jack, and Colby.

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of Bruce Johnston on January 21, 2021 at the age of 69 after his courageous battle with Cancer.

Bruce was born and raised in Edmonton where he spent his younger years helping his parents raise his three younger siblings. Bruce would spend summers camping with his family, all six of them in their little blue tent! He spent his winters playing hockey and throughout the years countless hours training dogs with his Father.

Bruce graduated High school in 1970 and immediately began his career with Fiberglass Canada, now known as Owens Corning where he retired after an honorable 45 years. During his tenure, he completed two apprenticeships and made many valuable friendships especially with his maintenance shop boys.

Bruce met and married his best friend Kathy, the girl next door and they raised two sons together. The family enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spent many memorable years at Baptiste Lake, the Skeena River bank and fishing on the Ocean.

Bruce had the biggest heart and was admired for his easy going personality and was always the first to lend a helping hand. He was an avid fan of the Edmonton Oilers and never missed watching a game in the garage surrounded by his good friends, family and his dogs.

Bruce is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons William (Erin), Brad (Krista); Grandchildren Sage, Taylor, Sierra, and Hayley; Sisters Barb, Belinda (Byron); Sister in law Bonnie and many nieces, nephews, extended family and good friends.

Predeceased by his Father Robert, Mother Alice and Brother Barry.

A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to do so in a true “Bruce fashion”. In honor of Bruce Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Earline passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 95 years surrounded by her daughters: Karen, Connie and Adeline.

Earline Elizabeth Armstrong was born on July 20 1925 in a small town in southern Alberta called Hanna .She was the second youngest of 10 children. Her father was very musical and played most any instrument , and with his brothers had a dance band . Their lifestyle was lively and happy.

At age 3 Earline’s “papa” was taken home to heaven . Soon after Earline’s mother moved with 4 children, Marie-Alice, Earline, Earl, and Lillian to Camp Creek NW of Barhead AB. Earline’s mother worked hard to keep food on the table . Earline’s mother remarried and had 2 boys named Marvin and Duane, and a girl named Leona . Shortly after Leona was born Marie Earline’s mother tragically passed away. When Earline was 14 years old the family moved back to Hanna AB. Earline cared for her younger siblings as a mother would. A few years later she moved to Edmonton and worked and joined various youth groups ,and found a church. She lived with her younger full sister Lillian and sisters in laws ,they called her “Ma”

Several years later Earline was called back to Hanna to help “Dad”Mumert with his wife and new children. So she went. This is where she met her “Cowboy Tip” he was a great man of faith and helpmate in her life. Tip and Earline were married June 25 1949 in Youngstown, AB in the old age home where they both worked. All the seniors who lived there attended the wedding . Tip and Earline went on to live a happy life and adopted 6 children. Gary, Barbra, Adeline, Connie , Karen, and Trent. There are 15 loved grandchildren and 6 great-grand children .

Earline was active in her church throughout her life with youth group , bible school, and other ministries. Activities in the community were also on moms list of enjoyment and duties . She cooked for work crews ,nursed the ill, sold Tupperware and Artex. She drove school bus for many years. Earline was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew and did much leatherwork .
Earline was also a great event planner and planned may large family gatherings . Her homemade bread ,buns, and cinnamon buns ,were almost legendary. A patient and loving wife. mother, and grandmother.

Earline’s life was a true story of Love,Faith ,and Hope
She was loved and will be missed greatly

Eunice Caroline Arndt was born on the family farm near Melville, Saskatchewan, on April 29, 1942 and passed away in Edmonton, Alberta, on January 18, 2021.
She was predeceased by her parents Otto Arndt & Ida Emma Arndt (nee Garbe) and sister Loreen Patterson.
Eunice is survived by sisters Violet Hubelit & Marlene Schick, brother Vern Arndt and sister-in-law Ruth Arndt.
She was a bright student at Melville View School and was an accomplished accordion & piano player. In her adult life she was employed by Canada Safeway and the Government of Alberta.
Rest in peace Eunice.

PATRICIA W. A. RICHARDS
February 27, 1928 – January 14, 2021

With heart-felt sadness, we wish to announce the passing of our mother, Patricia (Pat) Wilhemina Ada Richards (nee van Hussen) on Thursday January 14, 2021. She will be missed by her children, Michael, Chris (Colleen), Judy and Dix. She has gone to be with her parents Peter and Edna, her younger sister, Theresa (Terry) and brother, Llywelyn. She will be missed by her family, relatives and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts. Rest in peace, Mom.

Carolyn McGarvey (Nee Pearase)
November 11, 1955 to December 31, 2020

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Carolyn Joan McGarvey. She was 65 years young. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Carolyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital after a difficult battle with cancer that she fought with courage and grace.

Dedicated, Strong and Brave, Carolyn worked as a nurse for over 10 years, caring greatly for her patients, her co-workers, and the work she did.

Carolyn is survived by her four children Sean (Amy), Ben (Laura), Alana (Nathan), and Aaron (Taryn); four grandchildren Jacob and Evan (Sean and Amy), Jordan and Micah (Alana and Nathan); Brother Neil; sister-in-law Linda; niece Erin; nephew Scott; as well as many beloved friends. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Buck and Georgina, and son Bryan.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Palliative Care Team for their excellent support, as well as a special thank you to Kate and Bruce for their compassionate and loving care.

A celebration of life will be held later due to current Pandemic restrictions. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

MARGARET ANNE LONG
1928 – 2021

Margaret Long died on January 11, 2021 at the University of Alberta Hospital following a hip fracture. She was 92 years old.

Margaret was born Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1928. She grew up in Abbey Saskatchewan, the second youngest of a family of four. As an adult she moved to Winnipeg and worked for General Theatre and Sound as the office manager. Her relatives were occasionally treated to free movies, a perk of her job. She spent the majority of her life in Winnipeg. Due to declining health she moved to Edmonton during her final years to be closer to her niece and sister Betty.

Margaret was a people person and loved to socialize. She was the family historian. She was one of the original members of PEO Chapter “O” established in 1956 and held a variety of positions in this philanthropic organization for women. She remained a member until her death. Margaret had numerous friends in Winnipeg. She enjoyed crosswords and word search puzzles.

Margaret was predeceased by her brother Bill Long and sister Ruth Long. She is survived by her sister Betty Rankin of Edmonton and her sister-in-law Marguerite Long of Calgary. She is also survived by her niece, Marianne Rankin and her nephews Melville Rankin, Brent, Bob, Doug and Craig Long.

Margaret’s family is grateful for Margaret’s close friend Gail Reid of Winnipeg. Gail was tremendously supportive and gave extensive assistance to Margaret, particularly during Margaret’s last years in Winnipeg . We would like to acknowledge the help received from AHS Homecare and the staff at Ashbourne. Ashbourne staff went above and beyond in their care for Margaret. And finally we are grateful for the care she received at the University of Alberta Hospital in her last days.

An Angel took our Mother by the hand and told her that a place in Heaven was ready for her.
Jean (Ostafichuk) White was born on August 3, 1931 in Sheho, Saskatchewan. She is predeceased by her husband Ronald Addison White of 53 years. Ron and Jean resided in Yorkton, SK since 1975. Upon Ron’s death in 2008, Jean moved to Sherwood Park, AB. She then moved to Lifestyle Options Riverbend in Edmonton during 2018. Jean had suffered from heart issues, diabetes, as well as dementia for the past ten years. As her health began to deteriorate, her last days were spent at Hardisty Nursing Home in Edmonton, AB.

Jean is survived by four of her children: Roland White (recently deceased), Wayne (Jacquie) White, Curtis (Sharla) White, and Janice (Larry) Yausie, and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Although Mom’s health was failing, it was Covid, in the end that took her life. She will be sadly missed. She always took care of her family, loved her Ukrainian heritage, as well as loved to laugh. Rest in peace Mom we will see you again someday.

A cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of her Life at a future date in Regina, SK.
