It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Arthur Lewis Higdon. Arthur passed away peacefully at Mary Immaculate Care Centre in Mundare, Alberta on June 13, 2020. He went to be with his Lord at the age of 83 years, born in New Harbour Trinity Bay, Newfoundland on Dec 4, 1936.

He was predeased by his parents Arthur and Maria (nee Gilbert) Higdon; Sisters; Elizabeth, Edna and Winnie; Brothers; Reg and Colin; great-great-grand Daughter Elizibeth; grand Daughter Barbra.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth; his Daughters; Joy (Gary), Diane (Tony); his Sons; Brian (late Violet), Dennis; his grand Children; Kevin (Tamara), Crystal (Jason), Michael, Samantha, Amanda, Jordan, Phoenix, brother Harold, sisters Florence and Cherry, 13 great-grand children; 4 great-great-grand children; many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and dear Friends.

Arthur nick name “Art” was a very strong hard worker who worked as a Journeyman Brick Layer & Cement Mason for many years, during those years he traveled to many different places till he settled in Alberta, Canada with his family. He stayed in Alberta for the later part of his life. Here he watched his beautiful family grow. No matter where he roamed Newfoundland was always his home. He enjoyed talking and laughing with his family and friends. Some of his favorite past times were playing cards (crib), working on puzzles, watching western shows, he loved collecting stuffed animals and sharing them with everyone. He filled the room with laughter and smiles. He had his own personal struggles throughout the years, He found comfort in the Lord and strong in faith. He had lots of wisdom and willing to lend a listening ear. Arthur’s favorite bibles verses were Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:1-13. Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe. Nehemiah 8:10 Do not Grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. Forever Loved, Forever Treasured, Never Forgotten, Always in Our Hearts!

Brian Harry Petryshen

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian at the age of 68. He fought a hard battle with emphysema.
Brian is survived by his wife Marie of 44 years, his children, Shannon (Jeff), Cristin (Darcy), Calla (Sam), his 6 grandchildren, his mother Mary, his brothers Denis (Ursi), John, and his sisters Val (Greg), and Lori (Kevin).
Brian was predeceased by his dad Harry, brother Wally, nephews Michael and Benjie, and his niece Chrissy.
Brian worked in the oilfield from the age 18 to the time he retired at the age of 65. When he wasn’t working, he liked to be in the mountains and spending time with his family.
Brian will be loved and missed by all his family & friends.

Barbra Maxine Leclercq

Barbra Leclercq, at the young age of 43, passed away in her home on May 31,2020. Barbra will be lovingly remembered by her mother Joy(Garry), Her daughters; Sara(Amanda), Skyler(Victoria), Salanis(Tristan), Sabrina, Her sons; Sebastien, Tommy, Luke, Logan, Her grandchildren, Christapher, Cashton & Mary, Dominic & Lilith, Her siblings, Kevin(Tamara), Paula, Chad, Chase, Chance, Her Father; Melvin(Bonnie) and in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barb is pre-deceased by her grand daughter Elizibeth, Her Dad Kenny, and her aunt Marie. Barbra will be forever missed by many friends and family. Please pray for her safe travel to heaven.

This was my daughter

Barbra’s journey in life has touched many people’s lives and now in her death will leave many memories for these people. Her journey in life consisted of so many roads with many twists and turns but along that journey she created 8 paths. These paths have left behind Sara, Stacey, Salanis, Sebastian, Sabrina, Tommy, Luke and Logan and are now left to take the lead to find their paths. She gave them life and she is showing them through her death that they must choose the right road for her’s was an early death. Barbra’s legacy is her children who she would want to live the life she could not. She was not a selfish person; she spread sunshine whenever she could, she showed strength when needed, she gave and did not take, and was courageous for others but in the end she could not save herself. She will continue to be loved and remembered. Isaiah 57:1-2 Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

With great sadness we announce the passing of Ernest Charles Gagnon, at the age of 63, of Edmonton Alberta.
He leaves behind and will be missed by his mother Theresa, sister Carmen, brother Dan (Jean), sister Gisele (Glenn), brother Paul (Wendy), nephews Curtis, Raymond, Evan, Matthew, Ethan, Jordan, and niece Erin. He was predeceased by his father Paul, and brother David.
Ernie was a lone wolf, but always an integral part of the pack. He lived the life he chose, with his family being priority #1.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Eleanor Willis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Willis, age 90 on May 22nd, 2020.
Eleanor, better known as Jo, was a successful realtor in the Edmonton area for many years. She married second husband, Thomas (T.O.) Willis in 1982 and they relocated to Kelowna, B.C. in 1989. T.O. passed away in 2006 and Eleanor relocated to Edmonton to be close to family in 2011.
She had many lifelong friends and was passionate about cooking, music and a good game of cards.
Eleanor will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are Dennis (Phyllis); Linda; Delbert (Jacky); Richard (Yvonne); Patti and Tim, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter Connie.
Her love of family, sense of humor, and her kind and generous heart will be deeply missed. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Mom volunteered for them for many years and received pins for her years of service.

John Wayne Trautman

It is with great sadness that the family of John Wayne Trautman announces that on May 25 2020 Jack passed away peacefully in his home in Edmonton, AB. He was born Aug.28th 1945,raised on the Homestead in Duhamel area educated in New Norway.
Jack had the best job! 42 years with Continental/United airlines.His love for his job and his people skills led him to great heights in his career.Because of Jack his parents and siblings travelled the world.Jack is pre-deceased by Donna Shantz his sister and Don and Fannie Trautman his loving parents.He will be dearly missed by his family,Bob and Roxie(Stettler) Garry(Grande Prairie)Susan and Garry(Beaumont)Rick and Connie(New Norway)Randy and Colleen(Bashaw).Also all of his Nieces and Nephews ,
Jack was Papa Georgio to their children.He will be greatly missed by all his cousins,Uncle Stan and all his dear friends.There will be a Celebration of Life at a later time.Donations instead of flowers to a Women’s Homeless or Pet Shelter would make Jack Happy!

It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Bakke announce his passing at the age of 52.
Tom will be remembered as kind and welcoming to family and friends, both into his life and his home. He demonstrated great love of family and loved having company. He was available at a moment’s notice for a rousing game of hearts, joker, crib or hangman, and always ready with enthusiastic trash talk and witty comments to accompany those games. He loved to listen to music ; Jethro Tull, Motley Crue and Queen were in heavy rotation and could often be heard throughout the house. His wolf collectibles gave him much joy and expanded every year. While he did encounter some challenges in life, he was always good humoured, easy to please and wanted those around him to be happy most of all.
Tom’s love of family, his sense of humour, and his kind and generous heart will be deeply missed.

William Joseph Henry Pierce

On Thursday, April 30, 2020, William Joseph Pierce, loving husband of Donna and father of Matthew, passed away at the age of 78 at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital.

William Joseph Henry Pierce BA. MEd. was born on November 19, 1941 in Saint John, NB. to Joseph Henry and Mary Louise (Conway) Pierce. He served with the 8th Canadian Hussars and then received multiple degrees from the University of New Brunswick, and University of British Columbia. He married Donna Ruth MacLeod on July 17, 1967. He taught and worked in education for more than 30 years in Tanzania, Thailand, and Canada.

Leonard Thomas Landry

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonard Thomas Landry, age 56, on May 13, 2020, while surrounded by his family and friends.

Lenny was born in Oakville, Ontario, grew up in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and then later moved to Alberta with his wife and daughter. He was a skilled Millwright by trade, was passionate about sports and music, and never turned down a good time.

Lenny never missed a beat with his witty personality and was known for his charm. He took the time to learn sayings in many different languages, usually along the lines of, “You look beautiful today.” Lenny always had a story to tell, had an unparalleled sense of humor, and through his journey his spark never faded. Lenny left this world the same way he entered it, making everyone smile.

He is survived by his mother JoAnn Landry; father Patrick “BoBo” Landry (Diane); sister Terri Veniot; wife Nikki Landry; children, Patrick MacDonald, Julia Landry, Josh Smith (Megan), Kayla Smith (Michelle); nieces Naomi and Niki Veniot; grandson Shayl Smith; and best friend, Bruce Hebert.

The family wishes to thank all those who were involved in Lenny’s care including the compassionate staff at the Good Samaritan Mill Woods Centre.

As per Lenny’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. He requested that his friends and family celebrate his life through laughter and sharing stories.

In loving memory of Lenny, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Canada.

Richard Walter Glunz

Richard Walter Glunz of Devon, Alberta passed away on Thursday April 30, 2020 at the University of Alberta Hospital in his 90th year. Richard was born in Buffalo, New York, USA. He was a long term dedicated professional staff member of CBC for 31 years as a Television Technician in both Toronto and Edmonton. Richard is survived by his loving wife Maria Jesusa Glunz and his daughter Mary St. Agnes Glunz. He lived in Toronto for 22 years and was formerly married to Lorraine Stallknecht. They had a son Danny (predeceased) and moved to Thorsby, Alberta where they had their daughter Kimberly Johnson (Blair), who have two children – Richard’s grandson Logan and granddaughter Emily. They had a son John (Shelene), who have two children – Richard’s granddaughter Alysha and Grandson Brent.

Richard was predeceased by his father Howard Glunz and by his mother Genevieve Jauch. Richard leaves behind his extended family – brother Howard Glunz (Jane) in Toronto, and his sister Joan Martin (predeceased Jerry) and his nieces Dianne Ring (Dean) great nephew (Patrick), and Caroline Mulligan (Chris), Predeceased nephew Brad. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Pineau (Harry) but lovingly remembered by his nephews Mike Pineau (Bernice), great niece Stephanie , and great nephew Nathan all of Peterborough, Ontario; nephew John Pineau (Elizabeth) of Mattawa Ontario, and great-nieces Miriam, Sarah (great great nephew Ian) and Jill, and predeceased by great nephew Mike; his niece Suzanne Holden (Steve McConkey), great newphews Derek and Brett and great niece Nicole, and his nephew Dave Pineau (Annette Brouwer) and great niece Hailey and great nephews Mark and Ben.

Many people touched Richard’s life including his four personal caregivers (Peter, Kathleen, Lana and Genevieve), two personal nurses (Rose and Dea), and the Nursing home nurses: Fiona, Carla, Haydee, Bailey,Tracy, Lisa, Kelly, Ardis and social workers Nicole Darko and Minette Brese, the OT and PT and Dr.Donna Klay his Family Doctor.

Richard loved curling, hockey, football and watching his recorded movies, especially Romancing the Stone. Richard believed: Celebrate the good things in life, work hard, always do your best and make the world a little better than how you found it…
