It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Michaylla Anne McKinnon (Moman) on October 18, 2024. Michaylla left us after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends in her birthplace of Edmonton, Alberta. Her extraordinary life was one of love, adventure, and dedication, and she leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Born on October 18, 1983, her parents, Kelley Saunders and Gord Moman knew Michaylla was a vibrant force from the beginning. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. Her cheerful spirit and tenacity were evident early on, qualities that carried her through life and touched all who crossed her path.

Michaylla’s greatest love and joy in life was her precious son, Wilder John Robert McKinnon. Wilder was the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with him. She shared this beautiful bond with Wilder’s father, Shawn McKinnon, whom she loved deeply.

Michaylla’s professional life as a travel agent was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her love for creating joy in others. She was known for going the extra mile for her clients, ensuring their travels were filled with wonder and delight. Her dedication did not go unnoticed, as she received numerous awards and heartfelt thank you cards from grateful clients who were touched by her warmth and commitment.
Outside of work, Michaylla had a special fondness for her kitties and was always on the lookout for the perfect recipes to master in her kitchen. Her culinary adventures were a source of joy for her family and friends, who eagerly awaited her next delicious creation.

Michaylla is survived by her beloved son, Wilder John Robert McKinnon, her devoted brother Logan Nash Moman (Caitlin Mary Bateson) and her cherished niece Ayla Taylor Moman. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members and dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

A funeral service to celebrate Michaylla’s life will be held on October 27, 2024, at 1:30 PM. At Saints Church – Glastonbury 6315 199 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5T 6N2. The service will be a time to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was, sharing stories of the joy and love she brought into our lives.

Her family would like to extend their deepest thanks for the unwavering support from friends, family, and the wonderful Misericordia Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Ultrasound Team, who provided such special care and support.

Michaylla Ann McKinnon (Moman) will be remembered as a devoted mother, a loving daughter, caring sister, and steadfast friend. Her spirit, love, and zest for life will continue to inspire and guide us all. She may have left this world, but her light and love will never fade from our hearts.

Frank Courteau

FRANCOIS XAVIER COURTEAU
September 22, 1942 – October 14, 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Francois (Frank) Xavier Courteau, announce his passing on October 14, 2024, at the age of 82.
Frank was born in St. Boniface, Winnipeg on September 22, 1942. He was the youngest of 12 children who were all predeceased before him.
Frank will be greatly missed by his wife Cathy Cavanagh, his children, Michelle (Doug Rogers) and Rob (Wendy Courteau) and his grandchildren Ethan and Taylor, his stepdaughter Melissa Yates-Larson (Adam) and grandsons Desmond and Erik Yates-Larson, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Frank worked for CN most of his life as an accident investigator, retired early and enjoyed his retirement. He enjoyed watching hockey football and almost every other sport that was on.
Frank was an extraordinary person. He was a bright light to anyone who ever met him. He had the opportunity to do one of the many things that he loved in life. He had a great love for children. He spread his love and joy as Santa, along with his wife as Mrs. Claus to every child and family that they met for many years.
Frank was always up for a good game of Cribbage and Scrabble and he especially loved playing the game “Sticks”!
Frank will leave a big void in the hearts of many but our memories of all the great times we had will live on forever.
A private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends.

Wayne Smallwood

Wayne Cameron Smallwood, a cherished husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the age of 78.
Wayne, better known as Joey, had a love for hockey that began in his early years and remained a constant source of joy throughout his life. A senior hockey player who never lost his passion for the game, Joey exemplified sportsmanship, dedication, and perseverance on and off the ice. He was a respected member of the local senior hockey league, where he played with enthusiasm and skill that marked his youth. His teammates and opponents alike admired his tenacity and the wisdom he brought to the rink. His love for the sport was evident in every game he played, and he was often found sharing stories of hockey legends, reminiscing about classic games and inspiring the next generation of players.
Off the ice, Joey was known for his quick wit, his stories of “the good old days” and infectious enthusiasm. Whether it was lending a helping hand, sharing a laugh or offering support, Joey was always there for his loved ones. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, both on and off the rink.
Joey is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Margaret, his children Brad Smallwood (Melanie), Laura Smallwood, Kevin Smallwood, stepson Travis Lacombe (Anja), stepdaughter Lisa Brennand (Chad), his grandchildren Matthias Lacombe, Julia Lacombe, Greyson Brennand and Bentley Brennand.
Joey is predeceased by his parents William and Cora Smallwood, his brother Grant Smallwood and brother-in-law James Cameron. He is survived by his siblings Betty Cameron, David (Betty), Lloyd (Debbie) and Keith (Jan) and their families. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace Joey. May you find endless ice time and joyful games in the great arena beyond.

Rosemary Posein

Rosemarie Posein (née Jobs), born on October 18, 1943, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta. The daughter of Adolph and Emma Jobs, and one of seven siblings, Rosemarie will be fondly remembered for her deep love of singing and music, which brought joy to her life and to those who knew her.

She leaves behind her sister Valerie (Abdul), her daughter Cheryl (Ernie), her son Vance, and her cherished granddaughter Maya. Rosemarie was predeceased by her son, Kevin Posein; her parents, Emma and Adolph; and her siblings, Violet, Dennis, Norman, Velma, and Walter.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Rosemarie will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta.

May her soul rest in everlasting peace on the Wings of a Snow-white Dove.

Timothy Gerard Murphy

Timothy Gerard Murphy June 9, 1955 – October 11, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that Cynthia and Austin announce the passing of their beloved husband and father. Tim was diagnosed with Metastatic cancer in 2021, and decided from that moment on that he would not give up and live life to the fullest. He met each day with gratitude and grace, continuing to exercise, play golf and travel with his family.

Tim served his country for 22 years, then went on to work for Personal Support Programs (DND) for an additional 17 years. Tim’s legacy is the kindness and compassion he demonstrated to all those he came in contact with.

Tim leaves to mourn his wife of 35 years Cynthia and Son Austin. Brothers, Robert (Ruby), Paul (Sandra), Chris (Joan), and Hubert (Karen) and sister-in law Barbara. Predeceased by his father Hubert and his Mother Mary, Brother Michael and sister Sharon. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Cynthia and Austin would like to thank EMS, Morinville palliative home care , and Mel Miller hospice for the great care and compassion they showed Tim during his last month of life. Truly there are angels amongst us. Special thanks to my sister Pat and brother-in-law Chris who came to support us, in keeping Tim at home for as long as we could, it meant the world to Austin and me. We would also like to thank Kathie Powell and Pastor Jesse, your support was appreciated.

Dylon Matthew Graham

Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our bright star, Dylon Matthew Graham. He now shines down to light the way for his mom, Karin Hahnekamp; his dad, Kelly McDermid; his sister, Andrea Hahnekamp; his three nieces, Alexia Hahnekamp, Beau Hahnekamp and Charity Peters; as well as his ever present and faithful pup, Jadey.

So many will feel his loss, his grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. He was a devoted son, loving uncle, caring friend, and “partner in crime” to many.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Perryvale Community Hall on October 26, 2024 at 1pm. We ask that you bring a picture, story, memory of Dylon to place on his memory board.

Albert (Al) George Pluim

Al Pluim passed peacefully April 16, 2023, Two days prior to his 88th birthday.
Al is dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Jean Pluim ( nee vanEe).
He is also survived by his children; Vivian Pluim-Blais (Bruce), Daphne Pluim-Felix (Ken Holmes),
Craig Pluim (Heidi), and grandchildren Kieran, Jade, Tessa (Evan) , Anthony, Lauren , Lucas, Hayley (Chase).
Albert is also survived by his sister, Betty Lou Pluim Harris and several nieces & nephews.

Robert (Alex) Forbes

Robert (Alex) Forbes of Sherwood Park, Alberta passed away in his sleep at home on October 3rd, 2024 at the age of 69 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Alex leaves behind wife Debbie, son’s Chris & Jason and is survived by six grand children, two brothers, two sisters and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and precious friends. Alex was predeceased by his parents Colin and Bernice and daughter Jennifer. Family, golfing and hunting were his passions in life. He was and is still deeply loved and will be missed greatly.
As per Alex’s wishes there will be no service.

Jeannie (Jean)Pluim

Jean Pluim passed away peacefully November 2, 2023. She is deeply missed by children; Vivian Pluim- Blais (Bruce), Daphne Pluim-Felix (Ken Holmes), Craig Pluim (Heidi), grandchildren; Kieran, Jade, Tessa (Evan), Anthony, Lauren, Lucas, Hayley (Chase).
She is also survived by her sister Betty Lou Pluim Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Albert (Al) Pluim on April 16, 2023.

A Celebration of Life for Jean and Albert was held on March 23, 2024 in Leduc.

Elspeth Berg

July 30, 1930 – October 6, 2024

Elspeth passed away on October 6, 2024, with daughters Rae and Jo-El (companion Diane) by her side. She enjoyed her career, community, family, and friends immensely and lived to help others.

Elspeth grew up in Fairview, Alberta, and became a registered nurse at the University of Alberta, where she met her husband, Sten Berg. They settled in Ardrossan, went into mixed farming, and raised four children. After raising her family and keeping the books on the farm, Elspeth returned to nursing for several years and finally retired to help Sten subdivide the farmland.

Elspeth is survived by her younger sister, Margaret; her children, Kathy and her husband, Murray; her son, Peter; daughter, Rae; and her children, Jane, Jonn, and Calen; and daughter, Jo-El and her husband, Gerry. She is also survived by many friends and families in her nursing and church communities.

A Memorial Service will be held at Ardrossan United Church (22 Main St. Ardrossan, AB T8E 2A1) on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
