Catherine Anne Hynes

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Anne Hynes, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 30, 2024, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Mary Gibson, and children Michael and Joanne. She is survived by her husband Carl, daughters Carla (Bradley), Laura (Lucas), and stepson Dean. She was a proud grandmother to Carter, Gavin, Adalynn, and Brayden. Oldest sister to Mike (Sherry), Theresa (Gerry), Mary-Jo (late Jean-Luc), Don (Marina), and Dave (Cathy). Sister-in-law to Karen (Tom), Paul (Janice), the late Patrick (Carol), and Stephen (Donna). Proud Aunt to many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many.

Catherine, a dedicated Registered Nurse, spent her life caring for others. She cherished time with family and friends and enjoyed playing games. The next card game won’t be the same without her. Catherine had a passion for music and played the piano and guitar. She enjoyed attending concerts and musicals. She found joy in watching her grandchildren play sports and was always cheering from the stands. 

The funeral to honor and celebrate Catherine’s life will take place on May 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, located at 51 Albert Street East, Hastings, Ontario. Following the service, a gathering will be held at Mike & Sherry’s. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Catherine’s name to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Centre.
