It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine Hufnagel on April 20, 2024. Catherine was a bright and shining light, bringing humour to those around her, compassion for everyone, and a sweet spirit that graced every place she went.
Born in Scotland, Catherine is survived by her husband William, her daughters Catherine, Louise, and Angela, her son Daniel as well as her grandchildren Christopher, Jacob, Jayden and Greyson and three great-grandchildren Tatyanna, Deklynn and Anastasia.
Catherine had a passion for life. While working for the City of Edmonton she had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Family and her Lord Jesus Christ were the most important things to her.
The world is diminished with her passing. She will be fondly remembered by all those who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held in early summer.

Our condolences to all her family at this difficult time. I know she will be missed. Denny and I knew her from when she worked at Mill Woods and then ACT Rec Centre. Cathy always had a humorous outlook in life whether she was sharing a funny story or saw the funny side of something. She always greeted her co-workers and customers with a smile and a laugh and particularly enjoyed the the kids that came in. She was a gem.

It is with a heavy heart that I have many happy childhood memories of Catherine, my cousin at the family farm, Bruxie and in my home in Rora in Aberdeenshire before they emigrated to Canada. I was lucky to visit Canada once to see all my cousins and all their families. Thinking of everyone in Canada right now.

Cathy was a cashier at ACT when I worked there as an instructor
it was always a treat to see her smiling face behind the counter when I came to work, she was a ray of sunshine
I will so treasure our last visit when she came to my home, oh what hoot that was
and I just know that before she entered the Pearly Gates, she stopped to go to the bathroom first

Dear Hufnagel family. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mom and wife. We have many fond memories of sitting behind her in church and she would play with our kids. She was so kind and a generous spirit. We will miss “mom” Hufnagel
