Donald W. Ferguson passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024 in Edmonton, surrounded by his loving children at the age of 90.
Don was born on August 9, 1933 in Berwyn, Alberta to Ethel (Atkinson) and Franklin Ferguson. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Cliff, Leslie, Gordon, and Roy and sisters, Eleanor and Margaret.
He is survived by his loving children, son Ward (Anna), daughters Laura, Janna (Walter) and Allana (Dan), his granddaughters Elysia, Esperanza and Evangelina Ferguson and grandsons Logan and Carter Richards.
Don will be remembered for his warm smile, compassionate heart, and infectious and sassy sense of humour which he carried with him until his final days. Often greeting you with a smile, hug or a “Mr. Ferguson” handshake. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and listening to their stories. His eyes lit up when he saw them, always giving them hugs and kisses. Always eager to help, from teaching his nieces and nephews how to ride their bikes, taking his kids to their sports and being with his grandkids whenever he could. He would listen, play and tell stories. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
We are grateful for the care he received at the Good Samaritan on the south side and at the Grey Nuns in his final days, particularly the palliative care team on unit 43.
We will miss seeing his smile, his handshakes and his humour.
