September 15th, 1987 – July 24th, 2024
With heavy hearts, the family of Gary Helgason announce his passing on July 24th, 2024. Gary’s life was short but he lived it to the fullest. His family was at the centre of his soul, his friends were his “brothers” and golf was his life’s passion.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Gary’s earlier years were spent playing golf, hockey and baseball. Summers were spent on a lake with a fishing rod in his hand and the fall would find him out in the bush hunting with mom and dad. As he reached the end of his teenage years, golf became Gary’s main focus. He met his closest friends on the golf course who grew to be and remained a very important part of his life.
Left to mourn his loss are his “girls” Fuzzy; Georgie, (mom) Janet Helgason, (dad) Gary Helgason JR, brother James Musat, sisters Jody (Brian) Longmire; Jackie Gratrix (Mike Grover) and grandpa Gary Helgason Sr of Kindersley, SK. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins
Predeceased by Grandma Shirley Helgason, Grandparents Bill and Betty McKenzie of Kindersley, SK.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held later in August.
Condolences from the Mosich family. It was a pleasure working with Gary and I’m going to miss his laid-back personality and sense of humour. He was a good person to work with.
My deepest condolences to Gary’s family, your son was an incredible man who truly had so much love for life and the people in his life. He will be greatly missed, and has made an impact on mine and i’m sure many other lives in his short time here on earth.
I met Gary years ago, working at Golftown South. He was younger than me, and a waaay better golfer. He would tell me my swing was horrible, but that he would help me fix it.
Gary was an amazing human, and he will dearly missed.
It’s crazy how we rarely seen each other but I miss you like we spent every day together. I really love you my brother.
