Gordon Albert Brown

Gordon Albert Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 30, 2021 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He was born on October 9, 1936 and raised in the farming community of Whitemouth Manitoba and is survived by his brother Ernie Brown. He was certified as a Chartered Accountant and had a successful career in Manitoba and Alberta as a partner with Dunwoody & Company spanning 50+ years. He met the love of his life, Maureen (Tucker) Brown, on a blind date 60 years ago and they created a wonderful life together. He was an exceptional role model for their 4 children – Trevor Brown, Leslie (Brown) Begert, Darrin Brown, and Carleen (Brown) Hamdon; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren – providing laughter to family gatherings thanks to his keen interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren and his humble pragmatic attitude towards life. He spent hours with his family in conversation and debate. He loved watching and playing various sports but most notably, his favourite – golfing as a member of Edmonton’s Derrick Golf & Winter Club with his gang. He and Maureen played golf on many courses as part of their world travel, and as part of their retirement in warmer climates. His intense competitive focus also came through in the annual Brown family Egg Champing contest, and in later years through hours spent playing chess and bridge. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mazankowski CCU for their care. There will be no memorial service; messages for the family can be left at Simply Cremations (simplycremations.com). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney or Heart & Stroke Foundations.
