It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, Mabel Caroline Wallis, at Sherwood Care on February 28, 2025.
Mabel was born on the family farm near Verwood, Saskatchewan to Walter and Selena Hartness. She graduated from the Regina School of Nursing in 1947 and married George Wallis in 1950.
Mabel was the last of 11 siblings. Her seven brothers, Tom (Emma), Leo, John (Anne), Joe, Maurice, Harvey (Cecelia) and Alvin (Lynn), as well as her 3 sisters, Ethel (John), Lois (Wesley), and Selena (Lloyd) predeceased her. Mabel was also predeceased by her husband, George, in 2009.
Mabel is survived by her five children, Heather (Bob), Avril (Don dec’d), Grant (Shelley), Leslie and Kent; two sisters-in-law, Cecelia and Lynn, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her strength lives on through faith, family and friends and she will be dearly missed by all.
