Margaret MAUREEN MacDonald
April 4, 1938 – August 22, 2020
It is with profound sadness and immense gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of our wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, cousin, and treasured friend.
Maureen was born in Red Deer to Grant and Nita Baile, the eldest of two children. She is survived by her loving husband Ken; her children Craig, Shelley, Scott, Lauri and Shauna; grandchildren Leith (Sarah), Fawn (Mike), Kelsy (David), Piper, and Jack; her great-grandchildren Joseph, Finn, Van, Henry, and Pepper; her dear brother Maurice (Heather); as well as special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Finlay.
The epitome of a strong, independent woman, Maureen was also the hub of family and friends, making sure every special occasion was acknowledged and celebrated. Our lives are vastly richer for having known her, and we were infinitely blessed to be on the receiving end of her powerful love. We will miss her laughter and wit, her guidance and advice, her friendship, her incomparable zest for life, and her loving hugs. Maureen was an extraordinary woman who lived an extraordinary life.
At Maureen’s request, a private family memorial will be held and her ashes will be scattered with Finlay at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albert, Alberta and at Porpoise Bay in Sechelt, B.C.
Maureen saw strangers as friends, and she often turned them into family. She went out of her way to give them love, support, and help when possible. The positive impact she made on so many inspires us to continue her legacy. In lieu of donations, please offer kindness to a stranger.
My sincere condolences on Maureen’s passing. She was a beautiful treasure.
My thoughts are prayers are with you all.
