Mark Russell Dzenick

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Mark Dzenick announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 64 years.

Mark will be forever loved and deeply missed by his devoted wife of 32 years, Monica; and their three cherished daughters: Mara, Mariana, and Marina. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Johanne; brothers, Timothy (Cherisse) and Michael (Laura); sister, Andrea (Daniel); father-in-law, Mario (Luisa); sisters-in-law, Manuela (Robert) and Marzia (Farhad); and by many extended family members and close friends whose lives he touched with his warmth, intellect, and generous spirit.

Mark was born in January of 1961, and grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, where he earned both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Law Degree from the University of Alberta. His career and passion for global affairs eventually took him to Geneva, Switzerland, where he met the love of his life, Monica. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, purpose, and laughter, and raised their family with unwavering devotion.

He was predeceased by his father, Russell; and his beloved mother-in-law, Maria Grazia.

Keeping with his family’s wishes, Mark will be cremated, and his ashes will be returned to Switzerland, where he made his home and built the life he treasured most.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Edmonton. All are welcome to attend.

A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Chateau Louis Conference Centre, Edmonton. All who knew and loved Mark are welcome to attend and share in honouring his memory.

Kindly RSVP by March 30, 2025, by emailing Monica Dzenick at markdzenickmemorialfund@gmail.com, to help the family plan the gathering.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support funeral expenses and Mark’s daughters’ education. Contributions can be directed to a dedicated account arranged by his family. Please contact Monica Dzenick (at the email above) for further details.
