Alice (Elsie) Elizabeth Watson beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt passed away on September 7, 2025 at St. Josephs Palliative Care in Edmonton, Alberta
Elsie was born March 4, 1932 in Mundare, Alberta. The eldest daughter of parents Carl and Florence Zatelny. As a young child Elsie moved with her family to Deadwood, Alberta where she grew up on a farm with her siblings William, Marie, Stanley and Jeanette. After graduating school, she trained and worked as a nursing assistant in Grande Prairie. She married Robert Watson on August 25, 1955 and together they started a life in Deadwood, Alberta. They were blessed with two daughters, Karen and Bernice and a son, Kerry. They enjoyed the country life, farming and working as school bus drivers for the Peace River School Division until they both retired. Elsie loved her role as a bus driver and would often reminisce about all the children she drove over the years. Her hobbies included crocheting, curling, making amazing pies, and tending to all her flower gardens. She had a kind gentle soul and loved animals, especially dogs. She provided a wonderful loving home to many pets during her lifetime.
After Robert passed in 1993, Elsie remained living in Deadwood until 2018 when she moved to Manning. In 2022 Elsie moved to Edmonton where she resided at Wedman Village. Her family was grateful Elsie was able to spend her last remaining years nearby and was able to enjoy special family get togethers and holidays.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Robert, son Kerry, sister Marie (Floyd) Furgeson, brothers William (Carol) and Stanley Zatelny, and parents Carl and Florence Zatelny, several other brother and sister in laws, neice and nephew.
Elsie leaves to mourn her daughters Karen (Doug) Wythe and Bernice (Darrell) Pintkowski of Edmonton.
Grandchildren – Scott (Dianne) Gunderson, Jason (Jasmine) Gunderson, Angela Pintkowski, Pamela (Jason) MacDonald all of Edmonton and Robert Pintkowski of Lethbridge.
Great-grandchildren – Brayden & Ema Gunderson, Lily, Justus & Sophie MacDonald, Emma & Coby Sheppard all of Edmonton and Nolan & Maggie Pintkowski of Lethbridge.
Sister Jeanette (Don) Hansen of Edmonton, brother in laws Chuck Sigman and Paul Bernard of Edmonton, Elizabeth Zatelny of Manning, as well as many neices and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held to celebrate Elsie’s life as per her wishes.
If so desired, donations may be made, in Elsies’ name, to an animal rescue of one’s choosing.
Elsie will be dearly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
