June 29, 1934, Aucherloch, Scotland – September 12, 2026, Sherwood Park, Alberta
Ann grew up in the hospitality industry working at the Belmont Hotel in Leicester England. She set off to Montreal to meet a friend. It was there that she met ,married and welcomed their first son David. Continuing on to Yellowknife in 1960,Dr. Lloyd Powell completed his internship, and their family grew with the births of Cherry and Laura Powell.
They settled in Sherwood Park in 1968 where Ann made her home. Ann enjoyed a good day in the garden, her favorite horse Sundance, her favorite musician Nat King Cole, and a night out at the Nutcracker.
Ann opened her home to foster kids and stray animals, there were many that found a safe haven at Anns, including the handsome Kernie, who arrived with his ears frozen off, six toes and a disproportionately big head, and absolute confidence. He was spoiled appropriately by Ann, he hit the jackpot.
Anns favorite place was home, gathering over a home cooked meal, catching up or sharing stories, she would be your biggest supporter, her heart was unconditionally gentle and kind.
She loved spending time with her family,Shawn (Amy) Brynlee, Marlee & Max King. Chelsea (Jeff) Blake & Brooks Foster, and Kayla Powell. Anns face lit when she saw the kids.
When we see the robins in springtime we’ll know you’ve come for a visit.Forever in our hearts Mah P.
We would like to extend gratitude to the reception staff, nurses and caregivers at Sherwood Care Center for the wonderfull care provided, sure you know when the music played, her shoulders start to move.
A private celebration will be held in Anns honor.
What a beautiful story and beautiful life. As a close friend to her daughter Cherry, I know the love she has shared and grew an amazing family who loved and cherished her. Her memory lives on in all them. Heaven gained another angel. Ann Powell
