Edwin (Ed) Stewart Smillie (1947-2025) age 78 of Sherwood Park, AB passed away
Sunday, November 16, 2025 with his wife Linda by his side.
Ed was born October 23, 1947 in Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, the youngest of 3 sons.
At the age of 19 Ed moved to Regina, SK where he became a member of the RCMP
and served in that role for 35 years. Throughout his professional career and into
retirement Ed had a passion for people and the communities in which he served and
lived. You could always find him with a smile on his face and ready to help at a
moments notice. This was never more evident than when he lived in Wetaskiwin and
could be seen volunteering for every event whether it was big or small.
Ed loved everything trains, planes and automobiles. He loved traveling. He loved
helping out on the farm branding cattle and helping with harvest but what he loved most
was his family.
Ed is survived and missed by his loving wife Linda (nee Tiltgen) of 55 years; and his son
Vincent (Jodi). Forever cherished and remembered by his two grandchildren Kai and
Tessa. His memory lives on with his sister/brother in law Mabel and Leonard, sisters-in
law Jeanne and Carol and brother-in-law Bob; his nieces and nephews and great
nieces/nephews who always had a hug for Uncle Ed; and the friends that became
family.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Stewart, his mother Muriel and his brothers
Wayne and Barry.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to The
Parkinson Society or the Alzheimer Society.
