It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Leonard on June 03, 2025, at his home in Edmonton, surrounded by loved ones. Ian was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Diane, his mother and father, Arthur and Agnes Leonard, sister Marlene, his mother-in-law Eileen Whiteside, and brother-in-law Earl.

Ian is survived by his daughters Kim (Randy), Colleen and son Scott (Wendy). He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Ian loved spending time with family and friends. He played tennis regularly up to three years ago. He also enjoyed golf, especially with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons for their “Fathers’ Day Golf Tournaments”. He curled, played baseball, racquetball, and bowling.

Ian’s successful career spanned his entire working like with Maple Leaf Foods. He began in 1959, working in Winnipeg, Edmonton, back to Winnipeg, and Calgary until 1997. He thoroughly enjoyed his career. While working at Maple Leaf Foods, Ian taught his kids the value of hard work and commitment.

Ian spent much of his retired life caring for his wife and love of his life, Diane. His undying commitment, advocacy to make her life comfortable, and total love for her kept both happy for years. The love and loyalty we witnessed was remarkable.

The family would like to thank Eileen Asselstine for her wonderful friendship and compassion.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
