It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Trent Darin Schmidt, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, who passed away at the age of 46, surrounded by his loved ones on January 10, 2026.
Trent was born on December 13, 1979, in Edmonton, Alberta, to his wonderful parents, Sheila and Randy Schmidt. He was the beloved husband of Amy Schmidt, who shared 17 years together building a beautiful life with their children, Ella and Zachary. Their family also included Trent’s devoted German Shepherd, Marley, who was never far from his side.
Trent will be fondly remembered for his genuine kindness, quirky sense of humor, and his deep love for family. He was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. Aside from being a complete warrior, he was noble, selfless, and intentional in every aspect of his life. His health challenges over the years reminded us not to take time – or each other – for granted, and every moment spent with him was truly a gift.
Trent cherished his time hunting and fishing with friends and family, often reminiscing about the times he spent with his late father, Randy. Trent had the remarkable ability to fix just about anything and could light up any room he entered. His passions evolved over time, from being a master electrician, renovating his home, to more recently creating epoxy boards as treasured keepsakes that will forever remind us of his creativity and heart. He never allowed his struggles to burden others; instead, he used them to deepen relationships and strengthen the bonds he shared with those he loved. Above all else, family and friends were of the utmost importance to him, and he will be deeply missed by all.
Trent is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter Ella; son Zachary; sister Trena Hayes(Andy) and their children Brady and Liam; sister Darcie James (Kevin); his mother Sheila Schmidt; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Schmidt.
In accordance with Trent’s wishes, there will be no funeral or celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider becoming an organ donor and
donating blood.
Trent will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

The strongest person I knew! He will be greatly missed.
