Brendan Patrick Louis Cross, age 54, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of creativity, laughter, and a fierce love for his family, nature, and the world around him.
Brendan was a truly remarkable artist who could draw and paint like no other. He deeply loved nature and animals, capturing their beauty on canvas and paper. He was incredibly generous with his talent, constantly gifting his drawings to everyone he knew. If you were in Brendan’s life, you likely have a piece of his art. His generosity didn’t stop there; he was the kind of guy who would quite literally give you the shirt off his back, always putting others before himself. He was also an amazing cook who loved bringing people together for a good meal and a great laugh. Even when he became very ill, Brendan never complained. Instead, he kept his sharp sense of humour, cracking jokes and making sure the people around him were smiling.
An avid sports fan, Brendan could always be found cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays or the Edmonton Oilers alongside his devoted spouse, Tina. Matching in their jerseys, they rode every wave of excitement together, getting incredibly nervous and loudly yelling (and occasionally swearing) at the TV. Sharing that passionate, high energy bond side by side with Tina was his absolute favorite place to be and brought him pure happiness.
Brendan was predeceased by his beloved mother, Florence Cross, and father, Peter Willier.
He leaves behind his beloved spouse, Tina Hoflin; his children: Aidyn, Amaia and Isabella, Mitchell, Ashley, Megan, Brittany, and Taylor. He is also survived by his siblings: Dana Cross, Laureen (Greg) Bobrownik, Tracy (Lawrence) Cross Gauthier, Carey Cross, and Joe (Melissa) Cross; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks in Edmonton for close family and friends to gather, share memories, and honour the beautiful, full life Brendan lived. Information will be released once it has been finalized. In the early summer of 2027, there will be a memorial held for Brendan in Dore Lake, Saskatchewan, where he will be laid to rest alongside his mother.
Brendan’s kindness, humor, immense talent, and selfless spirit will be profoundly missed by his entire family and all those who had the privilege to know him. He may be gone, but the jokes he told, the art he gifted, and the love he shared will stay with us forever.
You will be missed your family and friends always have the best stories to tell.sore with your spirit animal to your next journey.
