It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karlene Todd, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 14, 1942, in Edmonton, Alberta, she graced this earth with her playful spirit and loving personality for nearly eight decades.
Karlene was the cherished daughter of Douglas LaRose and Katherine (Tillie) Karrer, and later welcomed Earl into her heart as her stepfather. She grew up surrounded by love and support, but her journey was not without its trials. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Joyce Miller, Jim LaRose, and Toby LaRose, as well as her devoted son, Vance Todd, and her loving parents. Karlene’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
On February 1, 1963, Karlene married the love of her life, Robert Todd. Together, they built a beautiful family, enriched with joy and laughter. Karlene is survived by her devoted husband, Robert, and their three sons: Kevin (Leah), Rick and daughter Bobbidawn (Derek). She reveled in the role of grandmother and was blessed with seven grandchildren: Jacey, Madison , Jordan , Bailey ,Brandyn ,Jax and Jessica each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Karlene also leaves behind many beautiful nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and kindness.
A woman of many talents, Karlene had a passion for sewing and spent countless hours creating cherished knitted blankets for her family and friends. Her kindness and generosity extended to everyone she met, making her a beloved figure in her community. She had a remarkable ability to lift spirits and spread joy, a testament to her nurturing and loving nature.
Karlene’s battle with pancreatic cancer was courageous, and through it all, she maintained her grace and strength. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Rebeka Gilbert and all the caring staff at the Sherwood Park home care for their compassion and support during this challenging time.
A celebration of Karlene’s life will be held on May 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at her daughter’s house, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate the beautiful life she led. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in the name of Karlene Todd directly to the Cancer Society, honoring her legacy and the fight against cancer.
As we say farewell to Karlene, we remember her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering love. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts as an everlasting source of inspiration and love.
