On Sunday, November 2, 2025, the world lost a strong-willed man with a heart of gold — a father, brother, son, husband, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Born to Grant Jacobson and Linda Hall on October 19, 1979, in Edmonton, Alberta, Luke spent his youth between the cities of Victoria, BC, and Edmonton, AB. Luke graduated from high school in 1999 and went on to study at NAIT in Edmonton. Later in life, he earned his Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification in 2012.
Luke began working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic for the City of Edmonton in 2011, where he spent fourteen years. Work was his family away from home; the joy he brought to his many co-workers, colleagues, and friends will be deeply missed.
Aggressively good-natured, with a pure heart and strong soul, Luke was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He enjoyed deep conversations and encouraged those he loved to be the best versions of themselves — forever making an impact on anyone who met him. He had a deep passion for soul-stirring music and greatly enjoyed big, lively family gatherings, barbecues, Sunday brunches, and time spent in nature. Family was everything to him, and he held those he loved close to his heart.
Luke was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Ayva Mallon, and his father, Grant Jacobson.
Forever to be honoured, cherished, and loved, Luke will be deeply missed by his wife of eighteen years, Marcia Jacobson; children, Alexander Jacobson, Michael Jacobson, and Emily (Dylan) Mallon; his mother, Linda Hall (Trevor Baird); his brothers, Gary (Cyndi) Johnston, Adam (Terra) Jacobson, and Dan (Lorena) Jacobson; his nieces, Eliana Johnston, Helena Jacobson, Olivia Jacobson, and Freya Jacobson; his nephews, Cameron Johnston and Raiden Jacobson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Luke’s memory will forever remain a guiding light for all who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, his compassionate love, contagious laughter, and unwavering courage will live on in our hearts forever.

Luke, rest in peace. It was always a pleasure chatting with you! You always welcomed me and my family into your home and made us feel like part of your family. You left us far too soon. I always admired what a wonderful father you were : so loving, present, and involved in your kids’ lives and activities.
