Margaret Emelia Kapchinsky

picture.jpeg

Margaret passed away on August 26th at the age of 101.

She was born on July 17th, 1925 to Charles and Barbara Wallace in Prince Rupert. B.C. She leaves three children to mourn her, Charles (Kay), Dan and Barbara.

In 1945, Margaret married Victor Kapchinsky, a soldier stationed in Prince Rupert, moving to Edmonton in 1949. She worked there as a secretary and legal assistant and retired in 1989. In addition to working and taking care of us kids, Mom loved to knit. If she wasn’t knitting sweaters or toques for us, she’d be working on a baby’s layette or a giant knitted stuffed toy for a friend’s child. After retiring, Margaret volunteered at Uncles @ Large and The Edmonton Association for the Retired and Semi-retired.

She will be remembered for her generosity and her willingness to help others.

  1. Dear Barb, Charlie, and Dan:

I send you my deepest sympathy. Your mother was such a lovely, talented, and kind lady!

I have very fond memories of Margaret over the years. Such a creative woman, she always had her wool and needles close at hand, and she was the person who inspired me to take up knitting once again.

Margaret’s spirit will live on in your hearts forever.
