Margaret Louise Loggie de Fernandez, born December 26, 1933, died peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 91 years. Marg was beloved by family, colleagues, and friends, and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Born in Fairview, Alberta, Canada, Marg lived a life of compassion, diplomacy, and an unwavering dedication to her family and the many international communities where she lived and worked over her lifetime. Marg graduated from the University of Alberta with a Master’s Degree in Canadian History. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish she went on to have a distinguished career with the Canadian Consulate in Lebanon (during the first years of the Lebanese Civil War) and Mexico, where she met her husband, Dr. Alonso Fernandez Gonzales (2014). Marg touched many lives through her efforts to keep Canadians safe in foreign lands and through fundraising and volunteering for many local charities where she lived.
Marg was preceded in death by her parents, Warren (1984) and Louise (Crocker) Loggie (1978), and elder sisters, Isabel Loggie (2016) and Elspeth Jean (Loggie) Berg (2024). Marg’s memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service with remote viewing access* to celebrate Marg’s life will be held from
• 1:00 to 3:30 pm
• Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Simply Cremations (5224 99 Street NW, Edmonton).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your charity of choice in Margaret’s name.
