Michael George Curtis ( formerly Tremblay ) passed away peacefully on November 17 at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital in Edmonton. He was predeceased by his father Wilfred ‘Toots’ Tremblay; his mother Constance Ruth Curtis; and his son Rick Tremblay. Michael is survived by his daughter Erica MacDonald; his grandsons Tyler Tremblay and Max MacDonald; and his best friend and companion Gary Antal.
Born in Toronto, Michael grew up in Pembroke, Ontario, graduating from St. Joseph Scollard Hall CSS in North Bay. Michael worked for the federal government in Ottawa while attending Algonquin College. In 1970 he married Hazel Williams, adopting her son Rick. The birth of Erica soon followed and the family moved to Alberta in the early 1980s. Michael had a varied career, working for the provincial government and various non profits, finishing with thirteen years at Excel Society as Director of Human Resources. Well liked in every workplace, his social nature and ability to connect with others made him a valued and well regarded colleague. Michael loved sharing his life’s stories with flair, playing piano, and attending concerts and theatre, especially musicals. His caring nature, artistic sensibility, loyalty, and charm left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Michael will be deeply missed and his memory cherished always.
