With heavy hearts and admiration for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Miklos (Mike) Tumm, who left us peacefully on December 30, 2025 at the age of 90. He passed in the comfort of the home he cherished, in the loving hands of his wife, Inge.
Born on November 30, 1935, in Budapest, Hungary, Mike grew up knowing the unimaginable hardships of WWII and the subsequent Soviet occupation. Despite these early challenges, he became a renowned diver and gymnast. In 1956, amidst the turmoil of revolution, he left his beloved homeland and sought refuge in Germany, where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Inge. In 1964, they bravely immigrated to Canada, beginning a new chapter that would come to define their incredible journey together.
Through hard work and perseverance, Mike built a life he was immensely proud of: a home built with his own hands, two children, a cottage – also built with his own hands, and three beloved grandchildren.
Mike was known for his wisdom, resourcefulness, and ability to solve any problem, big or small. Whether it was a broken appliance, a construction project, or offering an encouraging word, he always had the right tool, part, or idea. He was a
trusted figure in the lives of his family, friends, and neighbors, always there when needed, and ready to lend a hand or offer advice.
He had a love for nature and avidly enjoyed fishing and hunting. His cottage on the shores of Lesser Slave Lake became the center of his life and the time he spent there, surrounded by those he loved, brought him immense joy. Many of his happiest moments were spent at the cottage with his family – especially his grandchildren, who he cherished deeply and was incredibly proud of.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Inge, his children Robert (Barb) and Barbara (Tim), his three grandchildren Cole, Christine, and Milla, as well as his nieces and nephews Eva, Laszlo (Sheri), Susan, and Judy.
While we are heartbroken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Mike’s legacy of love, wisdom, and courage will continue to live on in all of us. Though our family will never be the same without him, we will carry his memory with us in every moment.

It has not sunk in yet that Miki is gone. It seems so strange to even think it. I hope he is somewhere where he can stalk a deer anytime he likes, and fish to his heart’s content. And maybe get in the occasional arguement with his brother…Love and hugs to you all.
