Pierre Lajoie
October 31, 1977 – June 12, 2025
With deepest sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Pierre Lajoie, a radiant soul, beloved husband, devoted father, and friend to many, on June 12, 2025, at the age of 47.
Born on Halloween in 1977 in St. Paul, Alberta, Pierre brought light, laughter, and a touch of mischief into the world from the very beginning. He made his home in Sherwood Park, Alberta, where he built a life full of love, sawdust, and spirited hockey debates.
Pierre was the cherished husband of Leanne Lajoie, his partner in life and laughter for 13 years. Together, they raised two extraordinary children, Regan (11) and Eva (8), who were the absolute center of Pierre’s universe. In his own words, “being a father was my greatest achievement”—and he meant it with every fiber of his being.
He is survived by his loving mother, RoseMarie, and siblings Robert, Christine, and Michel. He is predeceased by his father, George, and brother, David. Pierre also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family.
A self-employed cabinet installer and freelance builder extraordinaire, Pierre had a gift for craftsmanship and a knack for turning chaos into beauty—usually with a power tool in one hand and a coffee in the other. But his true masterpiece was the life he built with his family.
Pierre was a proud member of the Warriors hockey team and a die-hard Edmonton Oilers fan (even during the tough seasons). He also had a not-so-secret ninja identity, shared with his best friend and partner-in-pranks, Claude. Together, they brought joy, laughter, and a few raised eyebrows wherever they went.
He was a member of the Alchemists of the Round Table, a supportive men’s group where he shared his wisdom, humor, and quiet strength. In 2019, Pierre earned the honor of competing as a Natural Body Builder in Prague, Czech Republic—a testament to his discipline, determination, and love of a good flex.
Pierre lived by the words, “Not all those who wander are lost.” He wandered with purpose, loved with depth, and gave of himself freely. His presence was grounding, his humor disarming, and his heart immeasurable.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 29th from 1pm to 4:30pm in the Moyer Recreation Center just East of Fort Saskatchewan.

If you have stories or photos of Pierre, please share them with the family—they are treasures that will help carry his memory forward. Pierre’s sister-in-law, Lindsey, is collecting and compiling these memories. You’re welcome to share them on social media (she’ll be watching for them), or email them directly to LNLitke@me.com. Please reach out to her if you’d like your memories shared with Leanne or included in the memorial slideshow.
And in true Pierre fashion, we leave you with one of his and Leanne’s favorite running jokes as they aged together:
“Who am I, and where are my pants?”
A question that never failed to make them laugh—and one that now reminds us of the joy, silliness, and love that Pierre brought into every room.
Pierre’s absence leaves an ache that words cannot touch, but his love remains with us—quietly powerful, endlessly generous, and forever cherished.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Pierre, your love, laughter, and legacy live on.
