A Tribute to Shirley Louise Curle (née Donald)

February 11, 1940 – November 29, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Louise Curle on November 29, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family at St. Michael’s Extended Care Home in Edmonton.

Shirley was born in Rimbey, Alberta, and spent the majority of her life in Edmonton, where she also had a successful career with the Federal Government. A significant and beloved chapter of her life was the time she spent in Germany with her husband, Lloyd, during his Service with the Canadian Army. She often spoke fondly of this experience, describing it as a highlight of her life where she made many wonderful friends.

The most important thing in Shirley’s life was, without question, her family. She was the proud and devoted mother of five children: Cheryl (Brian), Laurel (Ken), Cassandra (Doug), Donald (Janice), and Darcy (Anita). Her joy multiplied as she became the beaming grandmother of twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was also a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews. Nothing brought her more happiness than being with her family.

Shirley cultivated a life full of passion, including a great love of music, gardening, drawing, painting and photography. She generously donated her time at the Northeast Senior’s Centre in Edmonton.

Shirley leaves a profound and loving legacy. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, honest, and beautiful soul who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
