It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tommy Arnold Travis, age 63, on December 22, 2025, while in emergency at the Grey Nuns Hospital. Tom faced a prolonged illness with strength and grace, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is lovingly remembered by his son, James, and his beloved sisters Debra (Gary), Kathy (Leo), Sybil, and Tracey (Woodie). He was deeply loved by his nieces Tara (Chadd) and Kim, and by his nephews Donnie, Chad, and Lawrence, to whom he was a father figure during their early lives. He will also be missed by nephews Kanil, Bradley (Tiphanie), Danny and nieces Asia, Michelle, Julie and great niece Katana. Tom was cherished by many other extended family members, specifically, cousins Jean Cunningham, Christine Proulx, Glenna Belcourt and Gloria Dyck as well as friends he met along his life’s path. With gratitude to the many people who were part of his life, including those not listed here.
Our hearts are broken but we know he is now reunited with those who went before him: the love of his life Ronna, his beloved brother Danny, his parents Maggie and Fred, and the best dog one could ever have, Skippy.
Tom had a special way of putting people at ease, often using a lighthearted joke to bring a smile to others. He was known for his strong will and determination and when he set his mind to something, he always found a way forward. In every career and venture, Tom rose to the top through perseverance, integrity and a personality that could win anyone over. He felt great peace in nature and it was not unusual to see wildlife at ease in his presence. Music was a big part of his life and at an early age, he taught himself to play the guitar. He played in bands and eventually opened a successful music store. Even when he didn’t pick up the guitar for awhile, with uncalloused fingers, he could still shred an amazing blues progression with so much feel. It was a part of his soul.
He is deeply missed.
A celebration of life and burial will be held in late Spring, when our long distance family and friends can also come together to join us in honouring him. Tom will be laid to rest alongside his brother and mother at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Edmonton.
