Richard Donald Miles, 62 of Mayerthorpe, AB, passed away
suddenly at home on June 28, 2023.
Rick was born on April 3, 1961 to Eileen and David Miles in Toronto, ON. After Rick graduated from Grande Cache High in 1977, he went on to study to become a Millwright at NAIT.
Rick’s first job started out helping with the family business “Dave’s Pizza”. He worked many different jobs in many different places over his lifetime. It helped him become a master of all trades.
In 1982, Rick met the love of his life Veronica Murray in Grande Cache. Rick and Veronica went on to have 2 beautiful children, Michele (Robert Knowles) and David.
Rick was known to many by his sense of humour, always with a quick wit and funny
commentary. He enjoyed golfing in his free time and playing and training with his dog, Bandit. Rick’s love of family ran deep. He was incredibly proud of his children and loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren grow and thrive.
Rick is survived by both his parents; his siblings Debbie (Randy), Brian (Nancy) and Michael (Andrea); and many aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Mayerthorpe on July 25 at time to be determined. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of your favourite causes.
Our family extends to the Miles family our deepest sympathies. Our hearts go out to all of you in your time of sorrow.Just wanted to share this poem that is dear to my heart.
*When Tommorrow starts without me*
When tommorrow starts without me,please try to understand. That an angel came & called my name, and took me by the hand: The angel said my place was ready, in heaven far above And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through heavens gates, I felt so much at home, for god looked down, smiled at me and told me”welcome home” so when tomorrow starts without me,don’t think we’re far apart, for everytime you think of me,I’m right there in your heart.
