It is with heartfelt sorrow that we share the passing of Shirley Welsh (nee Wong) on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the age of 74.

Shirley is survived by her husband Jim and son Ryan; sisters Annie (Paul); Mayo Sullivan; Sherry (Neil); Gwen (John); Lily; Frances (Grant); Grace (Robert); and Michelle (Dave); her brother Dinu; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley is pre-deceased by her parents Gim Shu and Henry, and her brother-in-law Barry.

Born in Canton, China, Shirley enjoyed cooking, working on jigsaw puzzles, gardening,
attending family gatherings, and socializing with people. She loved to travel, and was also the queen of the Housewares Department at The Bay.

Shirley’s biggest love was her son Ryan, and her husband Jim.

Shirley spent her last several years working at Costco and Save-On Foods, preparing and demonstrating a variety of food products.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 8th, 2023, at Glen Allen Recreation Centre, 199 Georgian Way, Sherwood Park, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Shirley brought a smile and love wherever she went. “Sister Shirley” we would joke that I was just another one of her sisters. Will miss going to events and Chinese New Year and your beautiful warmth and smile.
