Thomas George Schuelke

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of our brother,Thomas at the age of 68. He was a free spirit that loved writing, music, art and nature.
Although he suffered his entire life with many illnesses, his passing was sudden and unexpected.
He is now reunited with his mother, Margot and father, Otto. Left to mourn his loss is his sister, Monica, brother-in-law, Dieter, nephew,Dustin, nieces Sondra and Ciara and sister, Vera.
He is no longer in pain and suffering any more. May you be at peace. A celebration of life to honor him will be held in the spring.

The moment that you died
my heart was torn in two,
one side filled with heartache,
the other died with you.

I often lie awake at night,
when the world is fast asleep, and
take a walk down memory lane,
with tears upon my cheeks.

Remembering you is easy,
I do it everyday,
but missing you is heartache
that never goes away.

I hold you tightly in my heart
and there you will remain
until the joyous day arrives,
that we will meet again.

I recently rediscovered my copy of “The Oxbridge Years” and wanted to know about Thomas today. Sadly, I was to discover that Thomas passed away last year.
Thomas and I went to school together from grade 3 to high school in Newton Elementary, Highlands Junior High and Eastglen High school in Edmonton then both went on to study at the University of Alberta. We last connected in 1987 and he gifted me with a copy of his book of poetry. I had hoped that my search for Thomas would lead to a re-connection of friends and an update of the intervening years.
I am sorry my search came too late. My condolences to his sisters and extended family.

Dear Vera,
I can’t tell you how much I am going to miss Thomas, he became my brother in spirit and in poetry over these 3 years, I wish I had known him for many more. We were so joined at the heart over words and music. I am glad he was in my life. Thank you for being his strong and present person who was always there and in his heart.

Hugs, Audrey

Dear Vera and family
I am sorry for your loss. I only met Thomas once but he was a kind, generous and talented man. My thoughts are with you.
