Frederick Carl Young (Fred) 11 July 1937 to 1 March 2026
Fred was born in the farmhouse near Fort Pitt, SK. He was the fifth child of seven. He was predeceased by parents; Joseph and Margarete, brothers; Herbert and Ralph; brothers-in-law; John, Reginald, Joe and Stanley.
He is survived by partner; Evelyn, siblings; Margaret, Claus (Jean), Helen, Dorothy, children; Frederick Carl (Irene), Blaine (Nancy), Trevor (Amie) and Tayna (Matthew); grandchildren; Kristine (Dan), Karl (Amanda), Shea (Alex), Teaghan, Logan and Keaton; as well as great grandchildren; Lauren and Hanna, multiple nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews along with many other family and friends too many to list.
Fred passed away peacefully in his sleep. He will be remembered for his love of family, playing slow-pitch, and gardening. He was especially skilled at making willow furniture which he gifted freely to family and friends. He was a witty story teller, a good dancer and an avid listener. Fred was loved and will be sorely missed.

Fred was like a father and greatest friend to me when I lived with him from 1990-1993. Golfing, baseball, including me in family times. Condolences Fred Jr. Blaine, Trevor and Tayna. The willow chair ? he brought on his car across the prairies to my Manitoba wedding is still greatly cherished. Phone calls to heaven now. R. I. P.
So sorry to hear of Fred’s passing.
I played slopitch with Fred for many years and from the very beginning I found him to be such a good natured person and valued friend. I can honestly say I never once saw Fred without a smile on his face. He truly was both a gentleman and a gentle man.
May his memory be a blessing to his family and many friends.
Rest In Peace Fred, you were a great neighbour and a family friend of ours for decades. You will be missed. – The Eisenbarth’s
My sincere condolences to Fred’s Family
Fred used to frequent our farm in Fort Pitt, to visit my brother. His family later became our neighbors, where Claus Young still lives
Your memories will comfort you in the days & years ahead. Memories are a Treasure
Blessings to all who knew Fred
